Lavazza is rethinking convenient coffee with its new Tablì system – a fresh take on single-serve brewing that delivers rich, flavorful espresso without relying on traditional plastic pods.

Plastic is one of the biggest challenges when it comes to creating a more non-toxic coffee setup, particularly with single-serve machines. But for busy mornings, the convenience is hard to beat. Lavazza’s new Tablì 'Tabs' offer a smarter alternative: pure compressed coffee discs with no plastic casing, wrapping, or coating.

The sleek, compact machine is also perfectly suited to smaller kitchens, making this one of the most exciting coffee launches of 2026. The Lavazza System officially launches in August 2026, and pre-orders have already sold out – so it’s one coffee lover's will want firmly on their radar.

The Tablì system has already been launched in Italy, where the machine retails for €249.99, and with great success. If anyone knows coffee, it's them, so if they love it, I know we are already on to a winner.

The Tablì Tabs are simple, and that is where the beauty lies. Each 'Tab' is a round disc made with 100% coffee that is dosed, ground, and tamped into a gem you can hold, smell, and see before it is brewed. There is zero plastic involved, nor any coatings, meaning what you see is what you get.

The tabs are designed specifically to expand as water passes over them, with a concave shape that encourages full saturation, meaning no coffee is wasted. As someone who is always looking for smart ways to stop creating unnecessary waste at home, they're the logical choice.

Being so compact, they will be simple to store, too, even in the smallest kitchens. Lavazza is launching a drawer tab holder machine stand alongside the machine in August, but an airtight container such as the Airscape Stainless Steel Containers from Williams Sonoma will also do the job, keeping your coffee station compact and your coffee fresh.

There will be five tab varieties available at launch: Espresso, Espresso Double (a dark roast), Espresso Lungo (a medium roast), Decaf, and Super Crema – a full-bodied espresso topped with Lavazza’s signature velvety crema that should satisfy even the most discerning coffee drinkers. In Italy, a pack of 12 tabs is priced at €7.99 at the time of writing.

Each part of the system will also be sold separately, from the machine to the coffee tabs themselves. However, the complete bundle includes the machine, 60 tabs, a new milk frother, and a pair of tweezers for handling the tabs without touching them before brewing – an especially thoughtful detail when serving guests. It’s easily one of the coffee launches I’m most excited to try later this year.
