Step into the electric world of Miley Cyrus' 'Rainbowland' (feat. Dolly Parton) with album 03 by Cortney Bishop – a fresh compilation bursting with pattern layering, pop colors and expertly crafted goods.

This collection is a stunning ode to the mod-craft aesthetic that blends 19th century vernacular pieces with contemporary artistry and modernist luxury – available to shop for a limited-time from June 5th – 20th on albumbycb.com.

At the heart of this mesmerizing collection are the Folly bed and two Folly Etageres nightstands, three original Cortney Bishop designs, created in collaboration with master carpenter John Lindsay.

Adding to the allure of album 03 is a diptych textile work by Black Mountain College-inspired artist Susie Taylor, while Andrew Radcliffe’s abstract naturalist paintings and figural rainbow watercolors infuse the capsule with joyful planes of color.

A striking plaid painted platform in tones of plum, blush and pea green attaches to a Verner Patton-inspired perforated walnut wall partition that sets the stage for the drop. The architectural set is a testament to the power of mixing historic and contemporary folk craft with pop elements to create a new eclectic design tableau that is youthful and feminine.

The mother of pearl inlaid pink and coral candy dish, Swedish rugs, Harwood House-upholstered Adrian Pearsall sofa, lime Givenchy bag, and a tall boy dresser in mustard yellow by craftsman Michael Robbins all add to the fantasy and candy-colored dream that this installation presents.

Incorporating mod design with a touch of whimsy, album 03 is an enchanting tribute to Miley Cyrus's 'Rainbowland'. The result is a magical pink sunrise bedroom scene that is both stunning and surreal.

About album

album is a monthly track list of art and design that will elevate your life through superior quality and an immersive customer experience. Each month features art, decor and fashion, available to shop for a limited time, curated to great music. Created by American designer Cortney Bishop in collaboration with art curator Wills Baker, album is cultivated by experts in the fields of art, design and music, and spotlights creatives with fearless contributions.

John Lindsay is a designer, manufacturer, and business owner from Deerfield, Il. Following an early career as a carpenter, then cabinetmaker, he eventually cut his teeth in the mid 1990s as an upstart furnituremaker building reproductions of iconic American Prairie School works. These included rare editions by Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, Walter Burley Griffin, and more for elite dealers in Chicago including Kelmscott Gallery, Michael Fitzsimons Studio, and the private collection of Seymour Persky.

In 2010, Lindsay launched New Breed Furniture Network LLC with co-founder Alessandro Paradiso, enjoying early success with their PetalPly Series © being published in national magazines, design blogs, and broadcasted on HGTV. After discovering New Breed's first tables in Chicago Magazine, Cortney Bishop travelled from Charleston to Chicago to see the work first-hand at their flagship store, Post 27. This led to a fifteen-year collaboration that includes everything from large hospitality projects to high-end residential commissions, and most recently her own offices. Her championing of NBF has fueled the creation of hundreds of best-in-class products and has been essential to their business success.

In 2015 Lindsay assumed full ownership of New Breed Furniture LLC, continuing his work of expanding the PetalPly Series © and her twelve sub-series, all the while working with Cortney Bishop Design every step of the way.

In 2020 Lindsay and Bishop took on their largest project to date, The Ryder Hotel in downtown Charleston SC. For this project close to sixty pieces of furniture were developed, making up New Breed's first contract line, the RectRound Series ©, which is now co-exclusively offered by Cortney Bishop Design and New Breed Furniture.

Cortney's eclectic vision and expertise in all areas of interior design fits hand in glove with John's 'auto-didactic' design logic and first principles approach toward wood tectonics.
