I Never Thought I’d Call a Pool Float ‘Chic’ – But Then I Saw This One From Joanna Gaines’ New Target Collection
'Chic pool float' sounds like an oxymoron. But somehow, Joanna Gaines managed to make one that looks better than most outdoor furniture
Pool floats, in my Style Editor's opinion, are probably the least attractive outdoor accessory there is. Big, plastic, far too vibrantly colored – they're undeniable eyesores, yet a summer essential that both kids and grown-ups love. And yet most aren't designed for the latter, bright colors and garish patterns are most common when it comes to floats – until Joanna Gaines gave them a grown-up makeover.
For her summer collection at Target, Joanna Gaines took on the challenge of reimagining the pool float into something actually desirable. And after seeing her Blue Striped Inflatable Pool Lounger, I can confirm that she succeeded in creating a floatation feature that provides a comfortable spot to lounge and can double as outdoor decor.
I've never seen a pool float that looks this chic for this price. I'd argue that it even rivals the aesthetic appeal of some outdoor furniture. Leave it to Joanna Gaines to transform a basic pool float into resort-worthy decor.
Size: 24" H x 72" W x 38" D. 220lb. weight capacity
This pool float from Joanna Gaines' Target collection presents the perfect spot for you to lounge in the pool on a hot summer day. It's designed with a headrest, making it extra comfortable for lying down. Plus, it features a built-in cup holder on one side. Rear air vents make it easy to blow up and deflate.
Just looking at this float has me dreaming of hot summer afternoons lounging in the pool with a refreshing drink in hand – despite the fact that I live in New York City. But that's the thing about good design – it's transportive. So this summer, look out for me on Central Park's North Meadow, lying back on this float, imagining that I'm drifting around in my own private pool.
With its chic stripe pattern in a soft (not overly vibrant) blue and white colorway, this float has the potential to make your pool look just as design-oriented as the rest of your outdoor space – tapping into summer trends to elevate the poolside with style.
Plus, it's not the only pool accessory from Joanna's Target collection with attractive appeal. She's also released a 4-pack of inflatable beach balls in soft colors and trendy gingham prints – easily the chicest beach balls I've ever seen. And if you don't have a pool, Joanna's released an inflatable one with the same classic stripe pattern as her pool float.
Most of us have just accepted the fact that floaties and water toys are, simply put, unattractive. For years, we've let them degrade the aesthetic appeal of our pools and our backyards. But thanks to Joanna Gaines' stylish pool accessories, that won't happen anymore.

LoveShackFancy's iconic coquette print has made its way to the pool. I never thought I'd call a pool float romantically elegant in style, but this one is! Its soft floral motifs make for a charming inflatable that'll have your pool looking like it belongs on the grounds of Versailles.
Hammock floats might be my personal favorite style of pool floats – allowing you to be partially immersed in the water while lounging on top of it. This one is as chic as they come with its horizontal stripe pattern. Plus, the color of this one isn't overwhelmingly vivid like most pool floats. Instead, its subdued – making it all the more attractive for a stylish backyard.
Fabric-covered pool floats might be more expensive than their plastic counterparts, but in my opinion, they're so much more comfortable for pool lounging. Plus, they're a lot more attractive in design, and this one is proof. With its red and white stripe, this float has a vintage-inspired look to it. And with rope handles on either side, it's easy to move out of the water.
Now you know – there are, in fact, pool float options out there that can save your backyard's aesthetic appeal from the unsightliness of traditional pool floats. Between Joanna Gaines' pool lounger from Target and the three options above, you can make your pool as aesthetically appealing as the rest of your backyard this summer.
