I love these 3 decluttering shows on Netflix – they’re perfect for body doubling your next tidying session

Get inspired with the very best advice from the pros

If you're anything like me, decluttering shows on Netflix are the perfect easy-watching and body-doubling helper.

While they might not be a category you regularly switch on for a binge watch, the power of having 'company' when ticking chores off can't be disputed, which is why I love using these shows whenever it's time for a serious streamlining session.

Not only do they prove effective, but they also show that there really are tips and decluttering methods for every person and every space. These are my three favorites, so grab your bin bags and storage baskets, and tune in.

My top three decluttering shows on Netflix right now

1. Tidying up with Marie Kondo

It would be wrong to put this list together and not include a recommendation from the queen of decluttering herself, Marie Kondo. In fact, this was the first show of its kind I ever watched, and I could credit it with getting me through some of the most tedious parts of the Covid pandemic.

Whether you're interested in mastering the eponymous KonMari method for decluttering your closet, want to get clued up on Marie Kondo's crucial tidying mistakes, or want to take inspiration from Marie's tips for people nervous about decluttering, this show really has it all.

It's not only this show I recommend, either. I learned plenty of lessons from Marie Kondo's book, too, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, available at Amazon. Now, if something doesn't 'Spark Joy,' I know just what to do without hesitation.

2. The Minimalists: Less is Now

Few people are better equipped to advise on leading a streamlined lifestyle than The Minimalists, and there are plenty of lessons to learn from their show Less is Now. If you're not convinced, Chiana Dickson, our content editor here at Homes & Gardens, credits it with 'fundamentally changing how she feels about her "harmless" shopping.'

Following the two friends, Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, who are now better known as The Minimalists and experts in decluttering and organizing, this show effectively teaches how to reduce clutter like a minimalist, without throwing everything away.

All this while still living a fulfilling and comfortable life, and avoiding any signs you're losing control of clutter. It's brilliant for inspiring a clutter-free life.

3. Queer Eye

I'm a huge lover of the hit Netflix show Queer Eye, and even had the pleasure of chatting with Jeremiah Brent on his golden organization rule earlier this year.

While it isn't a decluttering show as such, any avid watchers will know that the process of giving a house a makeover inherently includes the process of decluttering room by room, and these are often the most touching parts of the series.

Plus, this show is packed with lifestyle advice: From transforming your home (and yourself) to improving your life by getting rid of what no longer serves you, and perfecting your home organizing ideas for what remains.

Of course, Jeremiah Brent's aesthetic organizing tips are always on point, and Antoni's delicious-looking recipes are the perfect way to reward yourself after a body-doubling tidying session.
