The new stainless steel AeroPress is an exceptional choice, whether you are graduating from an earlier plastic iteration or seeking a more travel-ready alternative to glass. Its robust construction and considered engineering make it a compelling upgrade in both durability and refinement.
Having tested both the classic and premium glass models of this cult-classic coffee maker, we can confirm they are among the best. The new design marries the same high-quality tech with durable 18/8 stainless steel for a tougher, sleeker, non-toxic coffee maker for usage in kitchens, and while on the move.
The stainless steel AeroPress coffee maker is around a fifth bigger, too, without compromising on portability. As a Kitchen Appliance Editor, I consider this a must-have upgrade.
The New Stainless Steel Version is a Must-Have For Cult Coffee Fans
Our coffee expert and trained chef, Lydia Hayman, dubbed the glass version of the AeroPress in her review as the 'Rolls Royce' of coffee makers, and this Stainless Steel model now has a more durable exterior that doesn't risk breaking when transported.
This technology remains one of the most unique coffee makers we have ever seen, with a three-in-one brewing system that brews delicious coffee quickly and easily, and is effortless to maintain. The newer stainless steel variation promises the same luxurious experience without the break risk of the premium glass AeroPress from Amazon, and delivers added durability compared to the AeroPress original, also from Amazon.
For years, the brand has distinguished itself by crafting premium brewing tools tailored to life in motion, whether you're commuting to the office or trekking in national parks, but its new stainless steel upgrade positions it as the perfect travel companion for coffee devotees.
The double-wall vacuum insulation and 304 stainless steel don't just make it more resilient to knocks, drops, and bangs, but ensure it stays perfectly comfortable to the touch, even when filled with boiling water.
While we haven't yet had our hands on the newest model, Lydia's rigorous hands-on experience with previous versions of the coffee maker found them to be exceptionally easy to use once she mastered the technique. 'It's so simple, you can do it basically half asleep,' she confirmed at the time.

It is the ideal maker for 'those who want to prioritize functionality over fuss.'
The new stainless steel version is designed with chic travel in mind.
Functionally, the designs of the three AeroPress models are the same. As with the glass iteration, for example, the stainless steel, non-porous surface maintains a clean, fresh brew. It even comes with a custom stainless steel scoop and stirrer, providing everything you need to make barista-level coffee at home without a big espresso machine on your countertop.
It will be at home in a high-end kitchen coffee station, compact living space or on the move with you when camping.
The new stainless steel upgrade is notably more substantial, with a 12oz (360ml) capacity – just shy of a 20% increase on the original model – delivering a more generous and satisfying extraction with each brew.
If you are worried about the potential for stainless steel to affect the taste of your coffee, fear not. Besides stainless steel being inert, meaning that it will not react with boiling water in the way BPA plastic does, the non-toxic coffee maker's rapid immersion-and-press methodology ensures that water remains in contact with the chamber for less than two minutes, reducing the potential impact on the overall flavor profile.
Whilst the stainless steel model is more affordable than the premium glass model, at $169.95 compared to $199.95. It's a considerable price increase from the $39.95 original (which we recommend to anyone looking for a sturdy, everyday, quick brewer), but this is to be expected from arguably superior materials that will inevitably last far longer.
The new stainless steel AeroPress is available from the retailer's website in the US now and will launch in the UK in late spring 2026.

After our thorough review process, we gave the Original 4.8/5 stars for its incredible value and practical design. We love how portable it is, how quickly it brews a great cup of coffee, and the range of brewing options you can achieve.
Before the stainless steel model came the plastic-free glass version. This design is wonderfully chic and offers the same performance as the other models, but at an elevated price due to the premium materials used. It won't be as sturdy on the move.
If you are not putting yours in a drawer and prefer it out and ready to use throughout the day, this specially designed stand is a sound investment. This compact organizer keeps your accessories and optional filters neat and protected from damage.
With 60 adjustable grind settings from espresso fine to course, this conical burr grinder is made with premium stainless steel to ensure lasting durability and precise, consistent grinding.
Available in six colors, including black, red, and pink, these stainless steel travel mugs are designed to fit the AeroPress tools precisely, for a convenient and clean extraction with no spills or drips.
For an extra smooth brew free from grit or oils, add a paper filter to your AeroPress before extraction. These biodegradable, compostable paper coffee filters are made from white, chlorine-free, food-safe paper for a clean flavor profile.
