Multi-functional spaces can feel cold and unfriendly. Whenever a room has to function as a studio, office, dining room, and living room, the lack of focus can result in a lack of commitment to a particular design style. Alexa Chung's eclectic creative studio has no such problem.

The model and tastemaker collaborated with Studio KKD to transform her De Beauvoir, London, creative space into a cozy flat that was suitable for living in. We love everything. From the pink walls to the green accents, to the intentional clutter throughout the room, it feels like a celebration of quirky Alexa's personality.

It's proof that even the smallest corner can be transformed into a testament to personality. Alexa's design is a masterclass in maximizing a small space. Luckily, every home has this potential.

Rohan Blacker, Founder of Schplendid, explains: 'There's a nook in everyone's home that's just waiting to be claimed as a reading corner. Maybe it's tucked beneath the stairs, nestled at the end of a hallway, or quietly calling to you from an empty corner of your bedroom. Wherever it is, the purpose of this little haven is simple: to create a space that's entirely yours - a pause from the world where you can exhale, unwind, and lose yourself in whatever truly fills your cup. Ideally surrounded by stacks of beautiful books, each one ready to whisk you off somewhere new.'

Recreate Alexa's Nook at Home

Rohan advises: 'Crafting this personal slice of heaven is far easier than you might think. Begin with a sumptuous armchair that feels like a cocoon of comfort; something irresistibly soft, wrapped in a fabric you can't help but reach out and touch. Think velvets that feel like a warm embrace or linens that whisper calm the moment you sink into them.'

Accessorizing the accent chair with throw blankets and pillows is an absolute must for recreating Alexa's look.

Rohan recommends: 'Add an extra cushion (or two) for good measure, because this is a space where indulgence is entirely encouraged. Then comes the magic ingredient: lighting. The big light is strictly off-limits. Instead, create gentle layers of warmth, an inviting lamp here, the soft glow of candles there. until the whole nook is bathed in a golden hush. It's this subtle, cosy ambiance that turns an ordinary corner into a sanctuary; a place where time slows down just enough for you to savor every page.'

The right furniture can turn even the most forgotten corner into a useful and design-led part of the home. Choosing bold, eye-catching fabrics and cozy accessories is the perfect place to start.
