Jennifer Lopez's open-concept living room is a masterclass in indoor-outdoor living – a must-have design trend for 2024
See how Jennifer Lopez uses decor to create synergy between indoors and out
No stranger to impeccable style, you won't be surprised to find out that musician and actress Jennifer Lopez's home is equally as beautiful, stylish, and well-curated as the star herself. This time, it is JLO's open-plan living room that caught our attention.
When designing any room – and particularly when looking for living room ideas that overlook a garden – it's vital to ensure synergy between the decor indoors, and what's beyond the windows and doors.

'When designing a home, it is important to consider the exterior space to ensure that it fits harmoniously with the interiors. In order to bring the whole home together, the garden space should be an extension of the indoor space,' says interior designer Emma Sims Hilditch of Sims Hilditch.
'Using too many colors within the interior and exterior scheme can become distracting and work against each other. I believe in creating spaces which have a sense of calm and balance.'
Using a color wheel can help you create the balance you need in a calm, relaxed scheme.
'Consider the colors you are going to surround yourself with, whether inside or out. If you enjoy neutral room colors then it is likely that you will choose quiet luxury colors, such as taupes, and beiges for your decor.'
Nature provided the inspiration for Jennifer Lopez's indoor-outdoor living room’s welcoming, earthy palette. This is quite a grown-up room, and the room color ideas, living room fireplace and timber furniture reflect this.

Another fundamental function of this space is openness. There are also many secondary benefits of open-plan living, such as the sheer freedom and joy of spending time in a sunnier, airier space with plenty of room to maneuver. Combining existing rooms allows you to utilize space that was previously reserved for formal gatherings.
The benefits of crafting a home that is warm, open, and at one with nature is an interior design trend we expect to see in 2024 and beyond.
It is not just celebrities who are embracing a more restrained interior decorating style, either. In a world where everything at times feels so fast-paced and chaotic, more and more people are turning to quieter, softer decorating ideas at home. Now, more than ever, we seek comfort and luxury in our homes; spaces that exude warmth, elegance, and serenity.
