In my mind, 'good storage' means there is a place for everything. All items are carefully tucked away. I thought nothing could change my mind until I saw Khloé Kardashian's pantry.

The socialite's pantry idea employs open shelving as an unlikely vessel for both beauty and function. Each shelf is strategically filled with a mix of food and cooking equipment, creating something that is easy to use and beautiful to look at. It's a masterclass in storage on display.

After years of requests, Khloé is finally letting fans see her innovative method via a YouTube video.

She explains of her pantry shelving: 'This is where all the magic happens. This area actually was one of my garages, and I said, "Who needs a car? We need a bigger pantry!" So I got rid of one of the garages, and voilà, this is the pantry. I transformed it and wanted it to look a little "farmer's market beautiful."'

The functionality I observed in Khloé's pantry starts at the very bottom level, where the most visually unappealing and most accessible foods tend to live.

She states: 'At the bottom, I have chips, popcorn, and snacks because my kids are little and shorter, so I want them to be able to grab and go.'

Khloé continues: 'The higher we get, the more "adulty" we get, like condiments and olives for martinis for Kris Jenner. I have different sections and containers, and then at the very top, I do backstock, and also, at the very top, glass cake trays for all the fun, good stuff. In this section, I have raisins and nuts and all of those healthy things.'

To keep all of this food visible and organized on her open shelves, Khloe swears by an expert-approved method for organizing a pantry: labeling. This allows her to keep the most attractive items out, without worrying about losing information about her food without its packaging.

She explains: 'One of my tips and tricks is to take a label maker and type out the expiration date on the very bottom. These don't expire until November 2025, so these things, because they're airtight containers, do last for months and months. We then do a pantry restock and refluff when needed. Canned goods are always a smart idea because they last for years, and we get things that you're actually going to use.'

How does Khloé keep open shelving looking so stylish? For one, she uses pretty custom kitchen organizing products. She explains: 'At the very bottom, I stained wooden crates just to match the color aesthetic that I like.'

Khloé also uses food as decor. Referencing a grouping of pasta in glass containers, she states: 'This is like a one-time thing. You don't have to redo this all the time if you just want decorative stuff. If you just keep a box of pasta somewhere, if you just want something to look good, who cares if these go stale?'

Khloé also uses her countertops as an extension of her shelves, embodying that perfect mix of storage and aesthetic. To her grouping of cutting boards, she says: 'I love a cutting board, so I have a plethora of cutting boards. Yes, I use them, but I also like the way they look on my counter.'

Khloé finishes the look by keeping the least attractive items out of sight.

She tells the camera: 'Behind cabinets, I'm big on sort of the things that aren't too pretty that you don't want out, like these are all the extra Ziploc bags and aluminum foil. These are aprons and stuff like that, things I don't really care to have out. So you're allowed to have junk drawers, although mine aren't really junk, because I still like everything organized.'

Open shelves can be a wonderful organization tool, when used well. By tapping into the ethos of Khloé Kardashian's pantry, anyone can achieve the style.
