Sofía Vergara’s resort-like pool area is the most enchanting I’ve ever seen – her plush sofa, elegant pergola, and limestone hardscaping exude glamor
Pool design is an art in Sofía Vergara’s gorgeous California backyard - it balances the area for swimming and living in perfect harmony

My dream patio feels like a luxury resort in St. John. It is full of space to relax and swim, surrounded by beautiful plants and ample shade. Sofía Vergara has created just that in California.
I spotted her pool area in a recent Instagram post, with Sofía posing under the pergola. Behind her is a white curved sofa with striped cushions. Next to it is a round, white ceramic coffee table that looks like the perfect spot for sipping a cup of morning joe. Lounge chairs by the pool create a space for relaxing in the sun. The pool has a curved, lagoon-like shape, creating a natural feel. Limestone flooring makes Sofía’s deck feel like stepping into Europe.
It’s easy to see why, even when my job requires looking at dozens of celebrity pool ideas every day, Sofía Vergara’s is my favorite. It’s the perfect balance between functional and relaxing, with just the right amount of color.

If I were to recreate Sofía’s deck, these are the stylish pieces I would choose. They are all neutral and top rated.
With lines that are designed to fit the contours of your body, you can rest easy on a lounge that will withstand the elements while allowing you to unwind. The colorway is also Eva approved, in case you need another reason to invest.
These stylish square pillows were created by another icon, Martha Stewart. They are stunningly perfect for adding a pop of color to your deck, and extra affordable for Amazon prime day.
This sectional is made up of multiple curved pieces for a relaxed look. Its welcoming shape makes for an instantly intriguing porch.
There are many lessons in patio design to be learned from Sofia’s pool. The first has to do with outdoor furniture. She has opted for a curved sofa and a curved coffee table. Together, these pieces give the patio an organic feel, where one element of the space blends into the next. It also looks quite modern, which is a welcome contrast to the storied limestone surface of the patio.
Second, the actress’s outdoor space shows that pool design can take more than one form. While we are most used to a classic rectangular pool shape, a curved shape can be a welcome alternative. The rounded form looks like a lagoon that instantly transports you to an even warmer climate.
Finally, and most easily replicable, Sofia demonstrates how colorful accessories can transform an outdoor area. It’s the easiest way to tap into outdoor decorating trends, without the commitment. The actress brightens her sofa with green indoor/outdoor cushions and her coffee table with a vibrant bouquet of flowers. Though these accents are small, their impact is bold.
Design expertise in your inbox – from inspiring decorating ideas and beautiful celebrity homes to practical gardening advice and shopping round-ups.
To recreate her look, consider incorporating inexpensive, colorful pieces to bring in and upgrade your existing design.
The perfect pool area is more than a yard: it’s a vacation behind your back door. With curved furniture, a creatively designed pool, and a lot of limestone, it’s easy to tap into.
