If there’s one thing I dread about hosting a large group, it’s juggling multiple overflowing pans while trying to get everything onto the table at once. With my annual Friendsgiving just around the corner and Christmas not far behind, I’m already thinking about how to make cooking for a crowd a little easier.

That’s why I’m so tempted by the extra-large nine-quart Le Creuset Dutch oven, currently more than $100 off at Wayfair. The Way Day sale has knocked this veritable hosting vessel down below $450 for the first time in months, making it the perfect time to upgrade my hosting setup.

As some of the best non-toxic cookware, the Le Creuset Dutch oven is an investment sure to stand the test of time, performing year after year, celebration after celebration.

I swear by my five-quart Le Creuset Modern Heritage Dutch Oven, and my Signature Pumpkin Cocotte sits in pride of place on my stove as a practical part of my fall kitchen decorations. However, while both are fantastic for cooking for around four people, when my whole friendship group piles through my front door, the pots end up working overtime.

The nine-quart upgrade is the perfect size for comfortably cooking for nine people or more, be it for holiday celebrations or big family dinners. Just note that, as with any cast-iron cookware, it is on the heavy side, especially at such a scale.

Outside of entertaining, the extra-large capacity is well suited to batch cooking so you master your meal prep, and provides ample space for artisan breads or large roast meats in the oven. Come summer, add some ice, and you have a drinks cooler or punch bowl for added versatility.

It’s a serious investment, but for larger households and frequent hosts, the sub-$450 Way Day price makes it a little sweeter. This is the kind of cookware you can pass down through generations, becoming a treasured staple at the Christmas table year after year.

What Else to Shop

The extra-large Dutch oven is not the only Le Creuset piece on sale this Way Day. I have dug through the discounts to find the best offers for upgrading your kitchen for less.
