I’m Eyeing ALDI’s New Crofton Cast Iron Collection for Fall Hosting – It's Le Creuset Style Without the Heirloom Price Tag

It brings the charm of classic French cookware for under $30

In my opinion, there’s no prettier piece of cookware than a Dutch oven. These substantial, heavyweight investments are among the most versatile pieces in any kitchen, equally suited to simmering soups and stews, baking bread, and everything in between.

The most iconic Dutch oven is, of course, Le Creuset’s Signature Dutch Oven, crafted from enduring, heritage enameled cast iron. But not everyone has $400 to spend on a single pan. Fortunately, ALDI has just launched a far more affordable alternative, offering the same timeless look without the hefty price tag.

Available from today in deep sage green and classic cream, the ALDI Crofton cast-iron collection includes small round Dutch ovens, larger oval roasters, and sauté pans – everything you need to outfit your kitchen ahead of fall hosting.

ALDI has never shied away from a designer imitation, and this cast-iron Crofton launch is far from their first homage to Le Creuset. In this drop, the more traditionally styled non-toxic cookware comes complete with the ringed lid evocative of the heritage design.

The launch includes three pan styles, each in two colorways (cream and deep green): Two 18cm (around two-quart) round Dutch ovens, two larger oval roasters better suited to group hosting, and two cast-iron sauté pans.

I would never be without the best cast iron cookware in my kitchen, especially in fall and winter. Its excellent heat retention makes everything from braising and searing to baking feel effortless, helping to develop beautifully even crusts and gently cook proteins until they’re tender enough to melt in the mouth.

Already this year, I’ve used the same Dutch oven to bake a loaf of bread in the morning, then prepare a hearty stew to enjoy with it that evening. It’s this kind of versatility that makes cast iron such an invaluable part of my seasonal cooking routine.

There is a caveat that, at under $30, these pans will likely not come with the same heritage enamel coating as the big-name brands such as Le Creuset and STAUB. That said, previous collections have been highly praised by shoppers for their two-year warranty and their durability.

One user on Reddit, for instance, shared, 'I bought the oval Dutch oven maybe five years ago. Love it. Going strong, no rust or problems.' Another added, 'We've had the Dutch oven (and the other Le Creuset clone products from ALDI) for a few years, and they've been exceptional.'
