Glass food containers are non-negotiable in my kitchen. After writing about non-toxic living for nearly three years, I've read enough about BPA and other chemicals used in some plastics to make glass my default choice for storing leftovers and meal prep.

The problem is that many glass containers still rely on plastic (or, at best, bamboo) lids, which often aren't microwave-safe and can't be placed on hot food straight away. It is hardly ideal, and somewhat defeats the purpose of making the switch to create a non-toxic home.

That's why I love these Bentgo glass containers from Crate & Barrel. They pair glass bases with glass lids and food-grade silicone seals, eliminating plastic altogether. It's thoughtful design that makes them one of the best options I've found for a truly low-plastic kitchen

I have to make do with a small kitchen, which means every investment needs to work overtime to earn its place. This is especially true of my food storage, where versatility is just as important as low toxicity.

As a self-certified lazy chef, I love any tool that lets me prep, store, freeze, and reheat food without using another vessel − and the Bentgo containers (also available at Amazon), can do just that. Their borosilicate glass lids feature leak-proof silicone seals and built-in steam vents, making the entire container oven- and microwave-safe. That means no more balancing a paper towel over an open dish or scrubbing away sauce splatters after reheating.

The PFAS-free containers also make organizing a kitchen effortless. Their clear, stackable design nests neatly in kitchen storage when not in use, helping to maximize valuable cabinet space in smaller kitchens.

It certainly helps that they look great, too. With clean, minimalist lines and subtle pops of color, they're some of the most stylish food storage containers I've come across, are practical enough for everyday use, and pretty enough to go straight from the fridge to the table.

The glowing five-star reviews have certainly convinced me. 'The Bentgo glass containers are fabulous. So easy to open and close, yet never leaks. Design is beautiful. Absolute perfection,' shared Lynn S.

Susan adds, 'These are light, but sturdy and beautiful. They stack nicely in the fridge and clean up well. I love the sleek profile, without those bulky tabs for the lids. Takes much less space to store, and vented lids are a must. My only wish would be for larger size options.'
