What Happens When Fender Meets Fragrance? Voluspa Has the Answer
The new collaboration blends Fender’s iconic rock ’n’ roll aesthetic with richly scented candles
Few brands are as instantly recognizable as Fender. If you know anything about the world of guitars, you’ll know the name; and if you’re passionate about home fragrance, chances are you know Voluspa, too. Now, in a first-of-its-kind collaboration, the two iconic brands have come together to create something that sits somewhere between scent and sound.
Like music, fragrance is a powerful form of self-expression – something that can evoke emotion, shift energy, and completely change the atmosphere of a space. Voluspa x Fender takes that idea one step further, with a limited-edition collection designed to transform the mood of a room rather than simply complement it.
I first discovered the collection at the London Home Fragrance Show in July, and finally got my hands on it this week. Having now experienced the scents for myself, I can already see these becoming my go-to candles for autumn and winter entertaining – ideally with the perfect playlist playing in the background. In a world of increasingly predictable home fragrance collaborations, this might just be the coolest one I’ve come across yet.

The scents included in a collaboration between Voluspa and Fender had to be at least a little unexpected − a perfect embodiment of a union of two icons of craftsmanship and creativity. Introducing Midnight Leather, Strawberry Rush, and Vanilla Voltage.
The latter, Vanilla Voltage, is for gourmand lovers, with a bright and playful finish and notes of citrus, jasmine, whipped coconut milk, and vanilla bean. The classic scent reminds me of the very best fall candles: comforting, cozy, and pleasantly sweet, without ever becoming cloying.
In contrast, Strawberry Rush is bolder. Mandarin, strawberry, lychee, and warm musk are combined to evoke the adrenaline, confidence, and passion of commanding the stage, housed in a bright candle jar that's perfect for reusing around the home.
Finally, my favorite of the three, Midnight Leather, is the most classically 'Fender' to me, with warm, spiced, woody notes of ginger tonic, cardamom, and the worn leather of an old guitar strap or case. To boost the scent experience of this one, try pairing it with Voluspa's Baltic Amber Reed Diffuser, which is one of my best reed diffusers for the coming colder months.
As I'd classify all three on the stronger side of the scent spectrum, I'd keep them to larger spaces − think living rooms, hallways, and big bathrooms. The mini candles are $24, the larger $52, and the gift set, which is perfect for picking up now ahead of time and popping under the tree for a friend or family member this Christmas, is $70.
Additionally, each candle is handcrafted in California using Voluspa's proprietary coconut wax blend and cotton wicks. This (speaking from experience) ensures a clean, even burn and a scent throw that effortlessly fills a space. They're also all vegan and cruelty-free, and free from phthalates, parabens, and sulfates, which is ideal if you prioritize using non-toxic ways to make your home smell nice.

This is my favorite scent of the three. This larger-sized candle has a burn time of 55 hours, and I'm already looking forward to getting the candle wax out of the jar and reusing it once mine is all used up.

Pomegranate Noir is a bestselling scent at Jo Malone, and it's easy to see why. It's rich, sophisticated, and extremely long-lasting, and I've found it an effective way to banish pet odors from my home, too.
This warm and spicy diffuser is perfect for fall and winter. I'm currently using mine to fill my bathroom with scent, and the embossed glass vessel looks elegant. It's also vegan and lasts between two and four months.
If you're looking to make your bathroom smell like a luxury spa, this is the candle to choose. It features notes of eucalyptus, cardamom, white sage, and Hinoki bark, is free of phthalates, parabens, and sulfates, and is never tested on animals.
