Switching to fall bedding thrills me just as much as pulling out my much-loved autumn trench coat – and the Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale stocks all my cozy season favorites
Florals for fall? Actually, yes

As someone who lives to layer, transitional seasons might be my favorite. Fall, especially. The moment it dips below 70, I’m back in a trench, swapping out Bermuda shorts for tailored slacks and leaning full tilt into coziness.
And at home, it’s the start of a season when it’s finally acceptable to pile a suspicious number of throw pillows onto the bed, along with two blankets and a fluffy duvet. In other words, it’s peak season for a shopper like me – someone who a) loves to layer, b) loves to get cozy, and c) always needs a reason to buy more.
That’s why I’m diving headfirst into Nordstrom’s Anniversary bedding sale, on now through August 3rd, and shopping the best bed sheets. It’s how I’m getting a head start on my fall wardrobe – for the bedroom.
After scrolling through everything, I’ve decided: florals for fall. Groundbreaking, I know. But truly – sultry, moody florals feel right. They bring a softness to fall bedroom decor, with patterns that still feel seasonal but lighten the mood. Of course, I’m also stocking up on pillowcases and sheets in quintessential fall colorways – ochres and burgundies – from the best luxury bedding names like Parachute and Blissy.
Cozy, layered, and a little unexpected. Ahead, the fall bed wardrobe you didn’t know you needed.
Starting with my favorite silk pillowcase brand of all time: Blissy. No one does high-quality, washable silk better. I’ve collected several colorways over the years, but this burgundy feels especially right for fall. It's a fantastic foray into a seasonal bed refresh that also happens to be gentle on hair and skin (a must as colder weather creeps in and dryness makes an unwelcome return).
Boll & Branch has what can only be described as a cult following – I hear about the brand constantly. So spotting this vining floral duvet set on sale at Nordstrom felt like fate. Made from cotton that, according to reviews, gets softer with every wash, the print even sneaks in the brand’s monogram if you look closely (a little Where’s Waldo moment for the textile set). The tailored, almost shirting-inspired hem adds a quiet fashion nod I love.
Contrast borders are always in, but this one – black on oatmeal beige – feels particularly crisp for autumn. It’s a low-lift styling trick that makes a bed look more considered, more cozy. And when it's time to switch it up, a linen-blend front and cotton backing mean you can easily repurpose it on an accent chair come spring.
Too many throw pillows? That’s not a real question. The answer is always no – especially when they’re ribbed, made of wool or cashmere, and layer just like your favorite sweater. If your bedding material doesn’t rival that of your fall wardrobe in quality, texture, and tone, what are we even doing here?
Sijo, the NYC-based brand known for its sustainably made, hotel-level bedding, makes a cotton percale bed sheet set that’s cool to the touch and crisp (ideal for layering without overheating under your inevitable mountain of decorative throws). Go with Forest green if you’re leaning into moody fall jewel tones elsewhere.
I’ve officially become too invested in this Nordstrom throw blanket. This reversible eyelash one looks like something a Scandinavian designer might drape over a sofa or, better yet, wear as outerwear. If I could turn it into a coat, I would. (Dear tailor: you’ve been warned...)
Shams tend to get sidelined, which is a shame, since they’re really just another styling opportunity. Part of dressing your bed to the nines this season means being a little extra, and nothing adds flair quite like a ruffled border. This Cottagecore bedroom set looks fanciful, but it’s also made from 100% linen, keeping things breezy and light under the covers.
Another moody floral, this time from Barefoot Dreams. For the uninitiated, these throws are legend (Oprah-approved, Kardashian-coded, and deeply loved by some of my most tasteful friends). Soft is an understatement. This indigo-black floral number is perfect for draping across the bed, schlepping to the sofa, or wrapping around your shoulders while you work from home. Pair it with deep jewel tones to really tap into the season’s mood.
Parachute, on sale? In ochre – my favorite warm neutral for fall? Say less. This garment-washed set includes a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases, all made in Portugal and designed to drape just right. It’s perfect on its own, or as a counterpoint to the Sijo set in your seasonal sheet rotation. Feeling bold? Mix both colorways at once. We’re already breaking rules this fall...
