Nostalgic, Timeless, and Brimming with Character – Ruggable's New 'Kindred Cottage' Collection Makes Every Room Feel Like a Cozy Upstate Retreat
With traditional prints, heritage motifs, and charming designs, this rug collection brings historical cottage comfort to modern homes
Forget the planning, the booking, and the long road trip. There's an easier way to escape to the rural, cozy countryside without even leaving the comfort of your home. It all starts with a rug – specifically, a style from Ruggable's new Kindred Cottage collection.
'The inspiration for Kindred Cottage began with the warmth and nostalgia of the Hudson Valley,' Ruggable's VP of Design Maria O'Brien tells me. 'We spent time exploring the region’s inns and storied hotels – spaces defined by layered textiles, lived-in charm, and a sense of welcome.' With traditional plaids, patchwork-inspired motifs, and floral patterns, the collection leans into the ever-appealing nostalgia-core trend, establishing a feeling of familiarity and comfort in any room.
'The collection is about slowing down and surrounding your home with pieces that feel familiar yet fresh, capturing that sense of nostalgia through texture and tone while keeping the ease and practicality of modern living,' she continues. No matter where you live, the cottage-like charm and cozy elegance of these rugs can transport you to a softer, quieter place. Their patterns and colors are as evocative as they are appealing – filling any room with the warmth and character it so deserves.
As my personal favorite style from the collection, the Calloway rug holds a sense of historic charm and whimsical nostalgia.
Some of the rugs from the Kindred Cottage collection capture the aesthetic stronger than others – like the Calloway rug or the Louisa rug. These styles, with their vintage-inspired, traditional quilt-like patterns, really lean into the sentimental charm that the collection has to offer. Their designs make them perfect for a cottage-core style home, and they invite a level of timeless character underfoot that few new rug styles can replicate.
Other rugs, like the Pennywood rug and the Mabel rug, offer the same nostalgia-inducing look. However, their floral motifs complement a wide range of interior design styles.
In terms of color, all of these rugs have been designed in an array of earth tones and complementary shades that can ground any room with classic, ageless elegance. Nothing's too bold, but nothing's too bland – each rug captures the warmth, richness, and inviting nature of a cozy, rural cottage with ease.
The Mabel rug comes in a variety of different sizes, including a 2.5' x 7' runner style that's ideal for a kitchen.
Looks aside, the rugs from the Kindred Cottage collection are practical, too. As much as we'd all love to live a slow-paced, quiet cottage lifestyle, that's just not possible – we need furniture and decor to keep up with our modern lives. These rugs certainly can. As one of the first collections made with Ruggable's Tufted All-In-One Technology, the Kindred Cottage rugs combine 'soft, vintage-inspired texture with the practicality of a fully machine-washable, non-slip rug,' Maria explains. 'The result is a collection that blends storybook charm with modern ease – pieces that invite you to slow down and enjoy your home.'

You might consider a style like the Arlen rug as your living room rug – with its soft pattern and complementary color scheme, it can set the scene for the main entertainment space in your home and will feel soft underfoot as you relax. For your bedroom rug, opt for something more cozy and cocooning, like the Tallitha rug. Its deep-colored and checker-printed design can establish a level of comfort in the space that rivals the feeling of snuggling up under your covers. Plus, its softness is unmatched.
Because of their heightened durability, these styles can even work as kitchen rugs. Try the Hearthstone rug as your kitchen runner – with its colorful design and plush feeling, it makes for the perfect spot to stand while cooking.
The Arlen rug in amber red can ground a room with timeless elegance.
'Kindred Cottage is designed to bring a sense of calm the moment you walk through the door,' Maria muses. 'The collection focuses on tactile details, imperfect symmetry, and a sense that everything belongs exactly where it is – creating rooms that feel calm, collected, and lived-in.'
With their timeless motifs charming familiarity, these rugs can certainly help you create a home that never dates, and with their increased durability, you can count on these rugs to maintain their good looks for years to come.
