Shea McGee is renowned for her modern rustic interior design style that prioritizes practical design solutions. In her recently unveiled home remodel, there's a common theme of clever design that emphasizes function no less than aesthetics – from the pantry to the dining room.
That's certainly no less true for the home's main bedroom, which we've been lucky enough to gain a glimpse into. Taking to Instagram, the interior designer shared a video in which she talks through a standout vintage cabinet in the bedroom, which is one of the most stylish storage ideas we've seen yet.

'You’re going to hear me say vintage and antique like a lot of times in our house and that’s just because I always have my eye out for pieces that I fall in love with,' Shea explains in the video.
The designer shares that she found the vintage wooden cabinet, which works perfectly with the bedroom's modern rustic style while shopping for another project. Noticing that it would fit perfectly in the space, Shea says it will serve as a space to store clothing: 'I always have boxes of try ons and it's messy and this is the perfect place... this is where I’m hiding the online orders.'

Interior designer, Shea McGee founded her iconic design firm, Studio McGee, with her husband Syd in 2014. They later launched their e-commerce brand, McGee & Co, and starred in their very own Netflix show, Dream Home Makeover.
Even if you already have all of the obvious furniture items in your bedroom covered, Shea makes a case for decorating with vintage. Not only does a vintage cabinet like this boast plenty of extra storage space, but it can elevate a room with its height. She explains: 'If you’ve done a dresser, you have nightstands, you’ve done a floor-length mirror and you still have a little bit of space to work with... I think a tall cabinet is a good place to look because it’s a different height and a different shape than all of the other choices that you’d make.'
If space permits, consider adding a cabinet like Shea's. As the designer explains, having additional room to store mess out of sight is always welcomed in rooms such as a bedroom where you want to create a calm space. But whether it's in the bedroom or another room, such as the living room or bathroom, adding vintage furniture will also enrich the space. Most often crafted from natural, solid wood, vintage furniture pieces have weight to them to ground a space, while their subtle imperfections and natural texture add design interest.
If you're a fan of Shea's laid-back, natural interior design style and want to create a similar look in your own space, consider decorating with vintage. These vintage and antique furniture pieces below are unique and will add a sense of old charm to your home while serving as a functional storage solution.
