There are so many different ways to use outdoor lighting ideas, from outdoor table lighting to pathway lighting. As an interiors writer with a keen eye for both style and practicality, I have shopped around to curate a mix of the prettiest and most functional outdoor wireless lights.

Mark Tremblay, interior designer and president at Marc-Michaels Interior Design, says, ‘If you want to set the mood for a cozy dinner outside or casual cocktails under the stars, outdoor wireless lights offer flexibility and will enhance any space with ease and charm.’

Many of these options tie in with garden lighting trends, but they are sure to serve you well for years to come. From colorful glass lamps and lace-patterned lanterns to sleek contemporary table lamps there's something here for all tastes and events.

Make your table shine in more ways than one by placing down an eye-catching light.

Where H&G editors shop for gorgeous outdoor wireless lights

What should you look for when shopping for outdoor wireless lights?

When choosing a wireless light for outdoor use, it’s important to look for strength, power, and durability.

Mark Tremblay explains, ‘Since the light will be exposed to humidity, sun, water and heat, make sure to look for weather-resistant materials.

‘Battery life is important, so I recommend that you opt for rechargeable options with long-lasting power or replaceable batteries for convenience.’

He also suggests thinking about the type of glow you want: soft and ambient for mood lighting, or brighter and directional for functionality.

‘Style matters just as much – many cordless lamps are beautifully designed to complement your decor, blending effortlessly from indoors to outdoors,’ he adds.

What are the different types of outdoor wireless lights?

There are many different outdoor wireless to choose from, depending on your needs and aesthetic.

Mark explains, ‘Lantern-style lamps are a great choice for balcony and patio lighting, while sleek, modern table lamps add elegance to alfresco dining. Stake lights and path lights are great for illuminating walkways and gardens.’

There are also other smart lights that are wireless and offer integration with smart home systems. Although Ted Ko, outdoor lighting expert and president at The Techko Group, warns, ‘Unfortunately, these can be very spotty because of limitations of internet connection outdoors.'

He adds, ‘I still recommend outdoor solar lights for a fully wireless solution because you can "set-it-and-forget-it", without being dependent on a reliable outdoor wi-fi connection.’

There are also many lights that are dimmable or color-adjustable, offering you the flexibility to set the perfect tone for any occasion.

How long do outdoor wireless lights last?

The lifespan of outdoor wireless lights depends on the type and quality, with rechargeable models typically running anywhere from five to 20 hours on a full charge.

Ted says, ‘Some solar lights only last a couple of seasons, so it's important to do your research before making an impulse purchase.

He adds that monthly maintenance of wiping solar panels and bringing them inside during blizzards/storms can also increase the longevity of lights.

Once you have found the perfect lights, you can add finishing touches such as floral arrangements and outdoor safe tableware to complete your entertaining set-up.
