Barbara Walters' apartment – a pastel pink paradise in a Renaissance-style building – lists for $19.75 million
Located on Fifth Avenue, the 11-room apartment served as the broadcaster's home from 1989 – take a look around the iconic property

Barbara Walters' long-time apartment, located on Fifth Avenue, is on the market for $19.75 million.
The home, which consists of a rare 11-rooms, served as the broadcaster's primary home from 1989 until her death in 2022 at age 93. The Boston native gained national fame in the 1970s as the co-anchor of ABC Evening News – becoming the highest-paid news personality and the network's first female news anchor.
Throughout her 65-year journalism career, Barbara interviewed every US president and their wives – from Richard and Pat Nixon to Barack and Michelle Obama. She was most recently seen as the host of the ABC daytime news-and-talk show The View.
It seems only fitting, therefore, that such a figure owned one of the most prestigious apartments in Manhattan (and one of the world's best homes), located in a historic building designed in 1925 by renowned architect Nathan Korn.
The residence spans the entire 6th floor of the limestone-clad building that is said to have an Italian Renaissance-style façade – and its beauty continues inside.
Much like its former owner, the home finds the perfect balance between vibrant and traditional – marrying neutral decor with audaciously-hued accents and accessories. Following the monochromatic entryway (featuring daring pockets of red), the grand room boasts a wood-burning fireplace, distinctly ceilings, and postcard-perfect views of New York's most famous park.
A red lacquer-painted library sits on the other side of the living room, complete with a dressing table and floor-to-ceiling mirrors that reflect some of Barbara’s favorite books and souvenirs.

The library is a stark contrast to the quintessentially traditional living room but serves as a reminder that a home can play with multiple different decorating ideas and styles at one time.
Reports say the apartment looks mostly as it looked when Barbara died at the end of 2022. It has a large eat-in kitchen, a dining room, and the aforementioned lounge areas filled with her favorite things.
The home has five bedrooms, including a traditionally decorated bedroom suite with a built-in closet, and cabinets with floral motifs. Other stand-out assets include another fireplace and yet more views above Central Park's trees.
