I Never Thought I Needed a Silk Comforter, Until I Tried One − It’s Irresistibly Soft and Brings Unparalleled Year-Round Comfort
Now, I'll never be without mine
Bedding, and particularly duvet inserts and comforters, are expensive at the best of times. It's no surprise, then, that a comforter filled with one hundred percent mulberry silk (in a Queen size) tips the scales at just shy of $600.
Since I received my Cozy Earth Silk Comforter at the start of February and started testing it, it's provided night after night of unparalleled luxury comfort, from the cold nights of winter to a recent summer heatwave.
That versatility and year-round suitability are exactly what make it one of the best comforters money can buy, if you've got the budget to invest.
In my role as the Sleep Editor here at Homes & Gardens, I'm lucky enough to test a whole host of bedding from all the most loved brands. But, out of every item I've tested, the Cozy Earth Silk Comforter is by far the most luxurious, and in my opinion, it's worth every cent.
Irresistibly soft and sumptuous, getting into bed under it feels like a real treat. The silk filling provides optimal airflow for impressive breathability, and mine, in the Standard fill option, kept me impressively cozy during the colder months of February and March, and cool since April, even throughout an 86-degree heatwave.
Usually a comforter is used without a cover, but with one this luxe, Cozy Earth does recommend using a protective duvet cover, which is needed to validate the manufacturer's extended warranty, and reduces the number of times you'll need to wash, dry, and care for your comforter, too.
In this warmer weather, I've been pairing mine with my summer rotation of the best cooling sheets, and haven't had any issues with the comforter (or the fill) bunching up or slipping and sliding throughout the night. And, if you choose to pair it with a Cozy Earth duvet cover, clever anchor loops on the comforter itself provide a secure fit, keeping it smooth and in place all night long.

As verified buyer Brittany says, alongside her five-star review, it's 'the best bedding you’ll ever own,' and I have to say, I agree. 'I was skeptical, but I’ll never go back. Sleep Luxury. Don’t hesitate.'
What to Shop
For more luxurious sleep upgrades, or if a silk comforter is a little out of your budget, you can shop my selection of bedding and accessories below, from affordable alternatives to pillows and protectors.

This bamboo alternative from Cozy Earth is light, cloud-like, and naturally temperature-regulating, to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. Viscose is also hypoallergenic, which is a huge plus if you're a sensitive sleeper with allergies.
According to hot sleeper Punteha van Terheyden, this affordable duvet from IKEA is cleverly cooling, but doesn’t leave you shivering when your body temperature naturally drops at night, thanks to its wax-infused viscose fibers. It's also conveniently machine-washable at 140°F to kill dust mites, and air dries in a matter of hours.
Linen is my favorite luxury choice to pair with my silk comforter. This striped set from Quince is both naturally temperature-regulating and allergen-resistant, and comes pre-washed for a relaxed, lived-in look and feel. This bundle set includes a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and two pillowcases.
For ultimate luxury, pair your silk comforter with my favorite silk pillowcase from Slip. Silk works to naturally keep you cool and protects your hair and skin as you rest, too. This particular silk pillowcase is also a favorite of many attendees at the Met Gala, like Blake Lively, Kris Jenner, and Gigi Hadid.
This satin duvet set offers an affordable alternative to silk. It's smooth, soft, breathable, and sensitive-skin-friendly, for a luxurious look on a budget. The silky fabric works to wick away moisture, while a hidden zipper closure keeps your duvet firmly in place without slipping and sliding.
This pillow is stuffed with 100 per cent Mulberry silk, just like the Silk Comforter I've been testing, and wrapped in a premium viscose shell. The filling stays consistent and fluffy, and according to the five-star reviews left by shoppers, it's 'perfectly soft' and 'worth the high price tag.'
You may be wondering if 'silk pillowcases stop breakouts,' and according to experts, the answer is yes. They have antimicrobial properties, reduce skin irritation, and are more hygienic than cotton, making them an excellent bedding choice.
