Of all items to shop at Diptyque, their classic candle has to be the most iconic. First released in 1963, it's graced the countertops, coffee tables, and mantels of celebrities and home fragrance enthusiasts alike, and has not had a redesign since it launched – until now.
The newly-upgraded Classic Candle collection, which launches on 16 April, remains as chic, elegant, and timeless as ever, with a glass vessel, white wax, and label, but with one big change: For the first time, it's now lighter and refillable, making it kinder to the planet and even better value for fans.
That's not all – along with the 10 classic scents, there are also six fresh, new scents to shop, too, from the zing of Ortie (nettle), to the deep roasted scent of Sésame Noir (black sesame). Your best candles just got even better, and I can't wait to shop the entire collection.

As a lover of Diptyque, this new sustainable release couldn't be more exciting for me. The French luxury brand has long defined my best home fragrance collection, and this new redevelopment couldn't have come at a better time, when more people than ever are concerned with being sustainable at home.
As Diptyque highlights, the brand has always envisaged a second life for the vessel that houses its iconic scented candles. I've spotted them filled with makeup brushes in countless Vogue videos, and once I get the candle wax out of the jars myself, I use them for the same purpose.
While this is just one way to reuse candle jars around your house, now, your favorite Diptyque candle becomes a lasting object, with the entire Classic Candle collection available as refills, reducing the candle’s carbon footprint by around 22 per cent. The weight of the vessel itself has been reduced by 10 per cent, too, with eco-responsibility in mind.
Once your candle is all used up, simply pop the insert out and swap it out for a refill, which is sold ready for use in a protective case made of paperfoam: A bio-sourced and recyclable material containing cellulose fibers similar to those used in paper.

The line-up of Diptique's exciting new scents.
There are also five brand new scents to shop: Café (coffee), Ortie (nettle), Sésame Noir (black sesame), Rhubarbe (rhubarb), and Shiso. I've been testing and loving the black sesame scent – it's truly one of the most unique I've ever tried – but with lighter, fresher, or fruitier scents available too, there's something for everyone.
If you're shopping for a luxury Mother's Day gift every home-loving mom will adore, this is a perfect pick. The quality of the clean-burning Diptique candles is an enduring feature.
Diptyque candles may be more expensive, but as a professional home fragrance tester, I truly do believe that you get what you pay for. Diptique's scents quickly and effortlessly fill a space once lit, with stronger scents like Feu de Bois (another of my favorites) and the new Black Sesame fragrancing even larger living rooms in next to no time.
The clean burn is also something to note, and is one of the main reasons why Diptyque candle vessels are so commonly reused. The candles burn right to the edges with no tunneling, residue, or leftover wax once you reach the bottom. They last a while, too, with a typical burn time of 50 hours, though they are available in smaller and larger sizes, and, though just a small thing, the chic look of these iconic candles makes them a perfect gift for anyone, and any occasion.
I will add that the new redesign still looks and feels exactly like the classic Diptyque we all know and love, with the subtle addition of an oval-shaped ridge of glass carved around the label, and the all-important option to refill and reuse them.
And, the new candles will still burn just as cleanly and evenly as before – the wick of each is specially selected for its diameter and braiding, and varies individually to suit each scent.

I've curated a selection of my all-time favorites, suitable for all budgets. All six make gorgeous gift ideas, too.
All prices were correct at the time of publication.
This might be a scent you'd more typically associate with fall and winter, but I actually love it all year round. It's warm and comforting, though not too smoky and heavy, and looks gorgeous out on display.
Tomato scents are definitely my favorite for this time of year. This pick from Malin+Goetz features a fresh and verdant scent and is comprised of a natural wax blend.
You really can't go wrong with a Yankee Candle. This scent is clean, fresh, and perfect for spring and summer, and the affordable yet larger size provides up to 150 hours of room-filling burn time.
This Bath & Body Works candle features high concentrations of rich fragrance oils to make an impact when lit, and comes with a decorative lid for a longer-lasting scent.
This snuffer will pair perfectly with Diptyque's new refillable collection. It extinguishes flames without smoke and helps prevent the wick from becoming frayed or damaged.
This tropical candle features notes of fruit, coconut, and vanilla, for a sun-kissed scent that evokes the best kind of summer holiday. The ceramic vessel will look gorgeous for use all around the house once the candle is used up.
If you're looking for more tips on what to do with a candle when it's burnt out, you can reuse any remaining wax to make wax melts or letter seals.
