Inside Avril Lavigne's Malibu home – a contemporary hangout for a pop-punk idol
The $7.8 million estate, on the fringe of the Pacific, comes complete with ocean views, a chef's kitchen, and a private skate park as standard
Singer Avril Lavigne is one of the most influential singers of the early noughties –regarded as the 'princess of pop-punk' who defined teenage angst music for a generation.
Since the release of her debut album, Let Go, in 2002, the Canadian singer became synonymous with the alternative music industry – but her Malibu home allows her to practice two of her other passions: skateboarding and cooking.
The property, located just beyond the Pacific shoreline, boasts the inevitable ocean views you can expect from a luxury coastal estate, but it also comes with slightly more unique assets – including a spacious chef-style kitchen and a private skate park in her backyard.
These features, combined with her enviable Zip Code, mean Avril's property is among the most unique in California – and indisputably one of the world's best homes. Here, we take a glimpse at some of its most stand-out assets.
Avril Lavigne's kitchen
Culinary enthusiast Avril is not shy of sharing her love for cooking via Instagram, where she sometimes shows a look inside her professional kitchen – complete with industrial-style appliances, stylish white countertops, and a pot filler above her stove.
Despite its construction in the 1960s, Avril's home recently underwent a renovation that left the property with a contemporary finish – without losing some of its original charms. Much of the home boasts high, exposed wooden ceilings and large window panes that pay homage to its original design – while the modern decorating ideas (best exhibited in the kitchen) bring the property firmly into the modern day.
While Avril's kitchen ideas offer much to be admired, we can't help but note her herringbone-style flooring that complements her sleek monochromatic cabinets and countertops perfectly.

We also love the convenience of her prep sink – deep inside the kitchen island (seen in the photo above). Paired with the handy pot filler, there is no doubt that Avril is a pro in the kitchen – especially when it comes to making beautiful dishes with ease.

It is perhaps no surprise that an ocean-front backyard is something to note – but its assets continue far beyond its Pacific views. Avril Lavigne, famed for her hit Sk8er Boi, is, in fact, a skater in her own right – and she has a mini skate park to prove it.
The unconventional addition sits on the lawn alongside the large pool that leads to a patio complete with a dining table and chairs for when Avril entertains outside.
Sharing footage from her yard, Avril is seen with professional skateboarder Tony Hawk who visited the home to help the singer' brush up' on her skills.
'Thank you, Tony Hawk,' she says. 'We all look up to you. I used to skateboard a lot when I was a teenager, and I've just recently picked the board back up. This was the highlight of my summer.'
