My favorite deals
Mellanni Queen Sheet Set | Was $50.97, now $34.97 at Amazon
These are the best affordable bed sheets around. Don't let the low price put you off - they're incredibly comfortable, and more than 250,000 five-star reviews on Amazon, prove it.
KitchenAid Artisan 5 Quart | Was $459.99, now $379.99 at KitchenAid
The best stand mixer in the world is now on sale. We've spent years trying to find a better model than this, but it's the very best you can get. Our tests found it excelled at mixing cake batter, dough, and whipped cream, and there are 28 different colors on sale.
Ninja AF101 Air Fryer | Was $129.99, now $89.99 at Amazon
This compact little air fryer is incredibly fast and excels at cooking at high temperatures. Our tests found that it did a particularly good job at cooking frozen food, and best of all, it's totally non-toxic.
Nutribullet Pro 900 | Was $99.99, now $67.99 at Kohl's
This update to Nutribullet's iconic blender is perfect for small portions of homemade smoothies. It's reliable, effective, and hundreds of dollars cheaper than a top-line blender. Best of all, this is the lowest price I've seen for this blender this year.
Dyson V15 | Was $749.99, now $605 at Amazon
For years this was the best vacuum we've ever tested, but it's been overtaken by Dyson's Gen5Detect. However, that's great news, because the price is slowly dropping on an excellent vacuum cleaner. The green laser genuinely highlights dust that the naked eye can't see and it even has a particle sensor. It cleaned a dog bed so thoroughly that it restored it to its original color.
Instant Vortex Plus Dual Air Fryer | Was $219, now $169.95 at Amazon The Instant Vortex Plus Dual is our pick for the best two-drawer air fryer. The two four-quart drawers can synchronize, so you can cook two different meals at different temperatures and times but make sure they're both finished at exactly the same time.
Cuisinart Precision Stand Mixer, 500W, Black, SM50BU | Was $210.58, now $199.99 at Amazon
If you want a Kitchenaid Artisan but can't justify the cost, you need a Cuisinart Precision. It's almost as good at whipping cream and mixing cake batter, it's better at kneading dough, and it costs hundreds of dollars less.
Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with LatteGo | Was $999.99, now $698.21 at Amazon
This bean-to-cup coffee maker takes all the hassle out of coffee at home. Add your beans into the hopper and you can have a huge range of coffee styles at the touch of a button. Best of all, this is the lowest price it's been all year.
Sijo AiryWeight Eucalyptus Sheet Set | Was $185, now $148 at Sijo
One of our sleep testers runs hot, but she found that these remarkable sheets kept her incredibly cool, even through several heatwaves.
Nespresso Vertuo Next & Milk Frother | Was $249, now $176.51 at Amazon
Nespresso machines make the best-tasting pod coffee. It's not perfect, but much faster, simpler, and more delicious than a Keurig. This deal also includes an Aerocino milk frother, so you can also make cappuccinos and lattes.
Breville 3X Bluicer | Was $399.95, now $329.88 at Amazon This handy appliance combines a juicer and blender into one appliance, saving you the storage and cost of buying two separate machines. It's not the best blender or juicer in the world but it does a pretty great job at both functions.
Levoit 36-Inch Classic Tower Fan | Was $74.99, now $59.80 at Amazon
This is our favorite budget fan. It's surprisingly powerful for such a cheap fan, and it's mercifully quiet too.
Cuisinart Core Custom 10-Cup Food Processor | Was $179.99, now $125.90 at Amazon There's a huge discount on our favorite food processor, the Cuisinart Core Custom. I first tested this a few years ago and it still holds up, easily processing everything from chocolate to cheese.
Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Core Sheet Set | Was $189, now $141.75 at Brooklinen
Our resident sleep expert is currently testing these and says she loves the softness of this silky set. This is the lowest price we've seen all year and they're usually expensive, so any discount is worth considering.
FAQs
When is Labor Day?
Labor Day is today, Monday 2 September. Deals will run until midnight tonight, with a handful lasting into tomorrow.
Should I buy on Labor Day or wait for Black Friday?
If you're shopping for tech and small appliances, hold out for Black Friday. Prices for these will be much better over Black Friday. However, you may not see better prices on outdoor furniture until next year, because retailers need to move summer stock that didn't sell. You should hold out on buying a mattress until Black Friday for the best prices, but don't wait if your mattress is causing you pain - it isn't worth the discount.
Which stores are open on Labor Day?
Target is open as usual from 8 am to 10 pm, though it depends on location. This is also true of Home Depot, Lowe's, and Nordstrom.
Walmart is open from its usual operating hours of 6am to 11pm.

Final Thoughts
Labor Day is great, but the biggest discounts on mattresses and kitchen appliances are still to come. While Black Friday won't see many deals on outdoor furniture, last year it offered huge discounts on a wide range of bedding, tech, and cooking gadgets.
