Fabric-upholstered bed frames are all fun and games until a late-night snack goes rogue and, through some cruel twist of fate, lands on your headboard (why, oh why, did you choose mohair?). Spot cleaning only gets you so far, and there are no washing machines on earth large enough to intervene. So Cozey – ever the clever upstart – posed a better question: what if the fabric simply… came off?
They answered with a new debut: the Ara Bed System. It's a frame featuring upholstery that unzips entirely, pants-style, whenever it needs a reprieve from pet dander, crumbs, or the general entropy of daily life.
Elsewhere – also analogous to clothing – Ara treats the bed frame less like a fixed object and more like a modular wardrobe. Choose from chenille, bouclé, or performance fabrics; select your headboard shape (rounded, square, pillow-style) and detailing (French seam, button-tufted); then decide on the frame itself – rounded or square, with optional hidden storage built in.
I could have taken this in any direction, but I started at the ceiling with my absolute dream bed frame type. A dream because it hits every note: a rounded headboard and base that nod to the organic shapes I’m loving right now, discreet hidden storage (I live in New York – need I say more?), and a super-touchable soft sage chenille that I can now actually wash.
Because I only tolerate math when it serves shopping, I did the tally. Between six neutral colorways, three seam options, three bed sizes (full through king), multiple fabrics, headboards, and frame silhouettes, Ara adds up to 864 possible configurations. So no matter how niche your taste or particular your preferences, there’s a very good chance your ideal bed already exists – you just have to assemble it.
The idea of a washable cover may sound… collegiate. But don’t be fooled – these bed frame options are decidedly elevated, extended headboards included.
Maybe that’s a low profile that disappears into the room. Or a wall-spanning headboard with full editorial impact. And if you wake up one day and realize sand was a mistake and sage was always the answer? You can simply swap the cover.
Whilst discussing logistics, it's worth noting that whether you’re shifting the frame across the bedroom or across the country, the four-quadrant base design breaks down cleanly, meaning even the non-professional movers among us stand a chance.
Hence the system part of the Ara. Ara adapts to your mercurial needs and tastes. It’s not just a bed frame. It’s very likely the future of beds.

A reliable tell that someone had the help of a decorator – or just really good taste in 2026 is an extended headboard. They’re dramatic, often with price tags to match, but this Cozey version places the design trend within reach. Better still, it’s cleanable – if you're musing the look, this is the most practical place to start.
You already have pillows on the bed, so why shouldn’t the headboard follow suit? This pillowy, upholstered look is very of-the-moment, which makes it a pleasant surprise to see it folded into the Cozey canon. I love the tension between the cushy cushions up top and the sleek, square-lined base below.
Sometimes, you want to pretend you’re a minimalist – but we both know those sweaters have to live somewhere. This super-sleek bed frame in Snowdrift Aquaforte (Cozey’s new water- and stain-repellent fabric) gracefully handles the problem, staying cleaner for longer by design. And because I couldn’t not include it: features hidden storage, too, for whatever you’d prefer to keep out of sight.
Cozey’s customizable bed frames and easy-to-swap covers make keeping pace with bedroom trends a low-effort endeavor. The final move is simply the right linens. Brush up on the bedding trends set to define 2026 and call your sanctuary complete.
