Cordless floorcare is fantastic, freeing you from the restrictions of the power cord, but that convenience can be cut short when a vacuum's battery dies mid-clean.
My two-storey home has four big bedrooms, and I wouldn't be able to clean the entire space if I didn't have two batteries. That's why vacuums such as the Dyson V11 Outsize at Amazon get ahead of the problem by conveniently coming with two batteries included, so that large homes can be cleaned in one swift session.
Stock is limited on this ultra-powerful Dyson, so I'd move quickly if you're looking to double your runtime while bringing home one of the best vacuums for deep cleaning large spaces. I've also handpicked some alternative options that can extend your runtime for less.
The Dyson V11 Outsize's Two Batteries Double Your Cleaning Runtime, for Big Homes
The Dyson V11 Outsize has two batteries, doubling the runtime to a maximum of 120 minutes, with an extra-large floorhead and a more capacious dustbin compared to the standard V11. This model is refurbished, meaning it's $300 cheaper than brand-new, while still meeting rigorous standards to clean to the same ability.

The Dyson V11 Outsize solves a common issue for cordless vacuums: The battery dying mid-clean. It's frustrating, as is a half-cleaned home that requires you to wait for hours for the battery to fully recharge and finish the job.
With two batteries, the 120 maximum runtime for the Dyson V11 Outsize fixes this. It's so simple to swap them out at the click of a button when one runs out.
You could leave one plugged in in an upstairs closet, so by the time you've cleaned the bottom floor and the battery is running low, it will be ready for a quick swap just when you need it.
The Dyson V11 Outsize also has an extra-large floorhead – 12.5 inches, compared to the 10-inch floorhead of the standard V11. This is as wide as many corded upright vacuums, such as the Shark POWERDETECT Upright, which is specially designed for big homes. This wider cleaning path means you can cover more ground at once, so your battery life goes further, too.
Another feature you typically find in bulky upright vacuums is a large dustbin. The Dyson V11 Outsize has an impressive 0.5gal dustbin, which is 150% larger than the standard Dyson V11. This matches many upright vacuums and also helps eliminate mid-clean breaks.
The Dyson V11, one of our all-time favorite vacuum cleaners out of the 97 we've rigorously vetted, is evidenced by its double runtime, 2.5x dustbin, and extra-large floorhead.
And as it's a refurbished model (meaning a returned appliance that's been inspected, cleaned, and restored), it's $300 cheaper than brand-new, while still boasting the power you'd expect out of the box.
The Dyson V11 Outsize is available for $399.95 at Amazon.

The Dyson V11 Outsize is specifically designed for big homes, with extra dust capacity, a wider cleaning path, and two batteries to avoid the mid-clean charge. It maintains the convenience of a cordless stick while eliminating its drawbacks when it comes to cleaning large spaces.
But for different budgets, here are a few alternative methods to tackle large-home cleaning without fuss.
All prices were correct at the time of publication.
Instead of investing in a brand-new vacuum cleaner, you can purchase spare Dyson batteries from the retailer directly, starting from $95.99, even on models that have been discontinued. There are more affordable, off-brand batteries available elsewhere, but the vacuum technicians I have spoken to warn strongly against this, as they can damage your motor over time.
Starting from $69.99, SharkNinja sells spare batteries for their cordless Shark vacuums, doubling your runtime without having to purchase a brand-new vacuum cleaner. Like the Dysons, vacuum engineers urge users to never buy off-brand parts, and only buy direct from SharkNinja to avoid damaging your appliance.
The Dyson Gen5outsize is the single most powerful cordless vacuum currently available in Dyson's range, that also includes two batteries for 140 minutes of runtime. Read more in our five-star Dyson Gen5detect review.
The Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra's cordless battery has an impressive 100-minute runtime. Paired with the strongest suction we've seen in a cordless vacuum, it's ideal for deep cleaning big spaces. Read more in my full Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra review.
Cordless sticks are more convenient, but if you have a big home, the most effective solution can often be a corded upright vacuum, particularly if your home has kids and pets, and lots of carpet. It has a 'Lift-Away' pod that offers more mobility, too. Read more in our full Shark POWERDETECT Upright review.
The Miele Guard L1 Cat & Dog has a large 0.9gal dust container and powerful suction that's perfect for big homes, but with the mobility and versatility you'd expect from a cordless stick. Read more in my five-star Miele Guard L1 Cat & Dog review.
