Having to cut hair out of a vacuum cleaner is truly one of the most frustrating and disliked cleaning tasks. But it's also essential, as failing to do so can result in less suction and potential damage to your appliance.

But the Dyson Ball Animal 3, now $200 more affordable than usual, solves this problem. As a seasoned Dyson vacuumer, these appliances truly are the best at avoiding hair wrap at all times, saving you from the annoying task of regularly removing it.

The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is touted as 'automatically detangling hair', something almost all vacuum brands claim, but on test, we found this to be absolutely true.

It has hair removal vanes: Angled bristles that follow a spiral helix design to guide hair along the brushbar from left to right. It's a clever design, and one that I've seen in other beloved Dyson vacuums from our tests, like the cordless Dyson V15 Detect and Dyson V11.

And still to this day, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 offers some of the highest, most unbeatable suction power that we've ever witnessed in a vacuum cleaner. 'The Dyson does an unbelievable job pulling dirt and dog hair out of the fibers,' Camryn Rabideau wrote in her review.

'Even though I thought the surface was pretty clean, the powerful suction of the vacuum pulled out a disturbing amount of pet hair from the carpet that was hiding under the surface,' she added, highlighting just how effective this cleaner is.

You will no longer have to worry about stubborn hairs being left behind when cleaning carpet, or not being able to pull fur from sofas and upholstery using the attachments. Its suction is so powerful that it grips tight enough to carpets that it can be difficult to push forward (if you leave the wrong setting on).

What's more, having a vacuum that leaves behind no trace of hair is how you can properly combat allergy symptoms at home. Pet dander, dust mites, and other household allergens cling to pet hair (and human hair, but less so, as I learned at Dyson's labs). If there are hidden hairs stuck in the carpet or wrapped around the brushroll, your household is still being exposed to allergens that can trigger sneezing, dry eyes, and irritated skin.

While this performance on hair is essential for pet-filled households, it isn't the only factor you consider when choosing a vacuum cleaner, and fortunately, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 also happens to be one of the highest-performing vacuums we've tested.

Whether it was dust, dirt, or large debris, we didn't find a single drawback in the Dyson Ball Animal 3's cleaning performance, aside from the fact that it can be a bit hefty (as most corded vacuums are), and it doesn't come with any of the smart features you'd find in newer upright vacuums, like dust detection or LED headlights.

But these are fancy add-ons. The vacuum cleaner itself is astoundingly effective, never wraps with hair, and is able to pull even the most stubborn furs out of thick carpets. And as it's a Dyson, you can rest easy knowing it'll last you a good 6+ years, maybe longer with the right care.

The Dyson Ball Animal 3 is discounted to $399.99 at Dyson.
