Kourtney Kardashian Barker brightens her bedroom walls with this accessible (and abstract) accessorizing trick
The socialite's bedroom features abstract artwork hanging above the bed, which experts highly encourage
Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Travis Barker recently welcomed a baby into the world, and we have got glimpses of their son, Rocky, via their Instagram pages. With a new child comes lots of time spent at home, so we are also getting glimpses at their serene and stylish home.
Case in point: recently, Kardashian Barker posted a photo of her husband holding baby Rocky in their bed. While they have opted for a sleek, black headboard and a pink and white bedsheet and pillowcase assortment, it's their wall art that has struck us. The painted canvas hanging above their bed is a watercolor effect work featuring a unique blend of orange, cream, yellow, and black.
Artwork can heighten (or even determine) a room's ambiance based on factors like scale, scene, and colors. With that in mind, experts say that it's crucial not to underestimate the power of artwork when considering bedroom art ideas.

'Hanging paintings above your bed is an opportunity to personalize your bedroom with unique style and character,' says designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'By carefully selecting artwork that resonates with your decor scheme and personal taste, and paying attention to placement and lighting, you can create a harmonious and inviting space that feels like a retreat within your home.'
First and foremost, size matters; and though Kardashian Barker's artwork is wall-sized, Lichtenstein says that scale should be determined based on existing room dimensions.
'The size of the artwork should complement the size of your bed and the wall space above it,' she says. 'As a general rule, the artwork should be around two-thirds to three-fourths the width of the bed for balanced proportion.'
As far as subject matter goes, Lichtenstein says that Barker's choice of abstract work is ideal for a peaceful bedroom; however, there are some other options on the table, too, when thinking about how to choose art.

'Opt for calming and soothing subjects for a restful atmosphere, such as landscapes, abstracts, or botanical prints,' she suggests. 'However, don't shy away from more vibrant or abstract pieces if they resonate with your personal style.'
Finally, carefully consider which colors will go best with bedroom schemes, whether they are neutral or already feature pops of color.
'Choose artwork that complements the existing color palette of your bedroom,' Lichtenstein says. 'Soft, neutral tones like pastels, greys, or muted blues can enhance a tranquil ambiance, while bold colors can add vibrancy and personality. If your bedroom features a minimalist or monochromatic scheme, a strategically placed artwork with contrasting colors or textures can create visual interest without overpowering the space.'
