This $6 IKEA Storage Shelf Has Rescued My Coffee Station from Drowning in Clutter – It’s Proof the Best Kitchen Upgrades Don’t Cost a Fortune
This unexpected bathroom essential has found a hard-working home in my kitchen
Our coffee corner sees a lot of action. From morning coffee to brewing for guests, it is one of the busiest spots in our tiny kitchen, and the clutter surrounding it attests to the fact.
Since adding one of the best coffee makers to our worktops, there is always a mess of filter baskets, steaming wand cloths, and milk jugs. The clutter creeps, too, making my whole kitchen feel more overwhelming.
There is no space in my drawers to keep it all safe, which is why I am turning to the IKEA ÖBONÄS Wall Shelf to save the day. Originally designed for shower storage, this $6 essential suctions onto the tile and holds all the essentials out of the way, creating the perfect coffee station in my small kitchen.
Given that I am working with a small kitchen in a rented home, I am very limited in what I can do with the space. My kitchen storage is already stretched to its limits, so using vertical storage to save space is my only option.
This affordable, renter-friendly coffee bar organization idea will completely change the space, stashing all the essential accessories out of the way while I am brewing, yet keeping them within easy reach.
I have used several of the IKEA suction storage hooks and baskets before to organize my bathroom, from the TISKEN hook for holding my speaker in the shower to the TIKSEN toothbrush holder, and never had an issue with the strength. So long as they are applied to a clean, dry surface, they have clung on with no complaint.
The stick on shelves are also ideal for small spice jars.
Originally designed for use in the shower for practical soap and bottle storage, the tough plastic is easy to clean and can grip onto surfaces such as glass, mirrors, and tiles. All you need to do when cleaning a kitchen is unscrew the container from the suction cup for easy cleaning. No need to reinstall the entire product each time you clean.

Storage on two levels, this storage rack is a great way to keep your worktop well organized and stylish. This stand makes the most of your worktop’s corner areas, offering room for jars, spice mills and bottles.
I use these on every pantry shelf to keep packets neat. Available in four colours and two sizes, the hard shell plastic is easy to keep clean, while the drop fronts make items easy to locate.
The space directly underneath cabinets is often wasted. This slip on basket slides onto the underside of shelves to make better use of this dead space, ideal for easy access items such as foil and plastic wrap.
Make the most of that tricky under-sink space. This side-mounted pull-out organizer has two roomy levels, perfect for keeping all your dishwashing essentials tidy and easy to grab, and pulls out for easier accessibility.
