Benjamin Moore has revealed its best-selling paint colors specifically for the bathroom, and if you’re after a soothing, relaxing shade, the hunt is over. These top four are whisper-soft and pale without being bland.

We spoke with Helen Shaw, Director of Marketing at Benjamin Moore, and Arianne Barone, Color Marketing Manager, to find out how to decorate with these calming bathroom colors and why they are an endlessly popular choice.

Benjamin Moore's Most Popular Bathroom Colors

'These four shades are popular picks for bathrooms as they offer an innate sense of calm and wellbeing, transforming the space into a sanctuary,' explains Helen. 'Bathroom designs are increasingly geared towards comfort and relaxation, where a spa-like sanctuary is central, and every element is chosen to facilitate this as well as the room’s practical needs.'

'Soft, gentle colors paired with refined finishes make spaces feel serene and naturally confident, inviting you to pause and unwind,' she explains. 'Each of these shades, whether crisp white, pale gray, airy blue or soft sage, promotes a soothing atmosphere while keeping the space feeling open and welcoming.'

Benjamin Moore's Simply White is an endlessly versatile, forever timeless white paint color that works in any bathroom, no matter its size.

'With just a whisper of warmth, Simply White has become a modern classic,' Helen explains. 'Celebrated for its clarity and ability to enhance natural light, this clean, crisp white keeps bathrooms feeling bright and fresh while remaining soft and welcoming rather than stark. Paired with veined marble and delicate metallic accents, it transforms a bathroom into a tactile, luxurious retreat reminiscent of a serene spa.'

Simply White works with a variety of finishes. Arianne Barone, Color Marketing Manager at Benjamin Moore, says, 'Simply White OC-117 is a brighter white paint color with a hint of warmth. Pair it with warmer neutrals and off-whites for a fresh but still welcoming look. Bring in weathered wood tones and creamy stone-inspired tile to lean into a more earthy, natural style.'

2. Angelica

Muted and gentle a touch romantic, Angelica, a pale lilac with gray undertones, is one of Benjamin Moore's most popular bathroom colors.

Helen says, 'This pale gray with a hint of lavender, Angelica, brings a gentle, spa-like calm to the bathroom. Gray tones with pink or purple undertones soften tiles and hard surfaces often found in bathrooms, adding warmth and subtle depth. Finish the look with sheer curtains that catch the light and touches of greenery for a refined, serene space.'

Angelica is subdued enough to uplift bathroom walls without dominating, making it one of the best colors for a small bathroom. Arianne adds, 'Angelica AF-655 is a pale gray with a delicate touch of lavender, bringing just the right amount of charm to a color palette. Pair it with beadboard, hand-painted tile and vintage finds to lean into a cottage look with cozy but eclectic appeal.'

Breath of Fresh Air, Benjamin Moore's highly popular pale blue paint, loved for its subtlety, is highly versatile. A timeless pastel blue that complements traditional bathrooms and coastal bathrooms, it soothes, calms, and lifts.

Helen says, 'Breath of Fresh Air is a soft, airy blue that brings a refreshing energy to any bathroom. Perfectly paired with crisp white accents, it evokes a coastal-inspired feel. Light-filled spaces benefit especially from this hue, as its gentle undertones soften bright sunlight while creating a serene, restorative environment. Tongue-and-groove panelling, natural woodwork and textured floorboards add structure and warmth, grounding the palette without overwhelming the airy, nautical vibe.'

Arianne adds, 'Breath of Fresh Air 806 is a classic light blue paint color. It brings a breath of ease to any space. Pair it with natural linens, wicker accents, and fish scale tiles for a coastal look that emanates relaxation.'

A deep sage green that grounds a scheme, Bassett Hall Green is vibrant and muted all at the same time. Popular for its earthy feel, Bassett Hall Green brings a relaxed, organic feel to the bathroom.

Helen says, 'A sophisticated, modern sage green, Bassett Hall Green adds subtle color without overpowering the space. Its calming undertones make it ideal for creating a bathroom sanctuary, offering a fresh, fashionable alternative for those looking to experiment with color. This shade balances style and serenity, allowing the bathroom to feel both elegant and restorative. For decorating, pair it with warm neutrals and natural wood to create an organic, grounded look.'

While zingy green bathrooms can feel stark, Bassett Hall Green is popular due to its natural feel. Arianne adds, 'Basset Hall Green CW-480 is an earthy green that feels classic but still refreshing. Pair it with creamy whites, penny round tile and warm marbles for a more traditional look.'

From a classic crisp white to a romantic lilac, these four Benjamin Moore paint colors are the most popular choices for a reason.

'There is a versatility and softness to these four colors, which makes them very appealing for spaces like bathrooms that have hard surfaces – like tile,' Arianne says. 'When choosing a paint color for a bathroom, you need to make sure it works well with everything else in the space. All four of these colors take an easygoing approach to color, making them inherently adaptable. Most people want their bathrooms to feel calming and serene, and a cohesive color palette plays a key role in that.'
