I don't know if it is just me, but by this point in the year, my kitchen is the least favorite room in my house. After peak hosting season and months of relentless winter weather, my motivation to cook and bake is at an all-time low.

Luckily, KitchenAid is coming to the rescue with its invigorating 2026 Color of the Year – Spearmint, the 'bright and calming minty green that invites you to step into the fresh side.'

Why KitchenAid's Spearmint Hue Is Inspiring for Their Latest Color of The Year

If your kitchen has started to feel a little uninspiring and your smaller appliances are looking more haggard than homy, it's the perfect time for an upgrade – especially in the run up to spring, where this 'revitalising' hue sets the perfect tone for Easter baking.

Whether you're swapping out your old stand mixer for an upgraded model or investing in one of the best stand mixers for the first time as a little pre-spring treat, it's the easiest way to create a fresh look for your kitchen and use functional decor to boost your mood, without a full kitchen redesign.

Hebe Hatton, Head of Interiors at Homes & Gardens, points out that blues are having a real moment in the spotlight right now, not just for spring, but for an uplifting pop that can carry you through summer into the chilly winter months without feeling trendy or impulsive.

'It's utterly timeless,' she proclaims. 'It's a low-lift approach to adding something special practically in a way that every busy kitchen demands.'

Brittni Pertijs, design manager: Color, material, and finish, part of the team behind the new colorway at Whirlpool Corporation, shared, 'This year’s Color of the Year, Spearmint, feels like a mood booster – it’s positive, uplifting, and revitalizing.'

Spearmint is also incredibly versatile, she points out. It can bring a fresh pop of color against stainless steel or be a perfect complement in a colorful kitchen. Thanks to its blend of blues and greens, it works just as well in both cool and warm spaces to stand out as a statement or seamlessly blend into its surroundings, too.

The new shade also sees the return of the previously limited-edition 2021 Sand finish. This subtle texture softens the shade, and pulls inspiration from the soft texture of mint leaves, honing in on the tactility of the analogue trend so many of us are turning to in an increasingly overwhelming world, paved in neutrals and slick stainless steel.

'The sand finish is not a texture that you immediately notice with your eyes, but rather one that pulls you in and invites you to touch it,' Brittini shares. 'It has a subtle, grounding warmth that feels reminiscent of baking, cooking, and the moments we spend creating in the kitchen.'

The new KitchenAid is available from 12 February 2026, and launches with a KitchenAid Color of the Year Sweepstakes, where five lucky winners will receive a Spearmint Stand Mixer, plus a matching, limited-edition KitchenAid 36-inch Dual Fuel Commercial-Style Range.

It's the first time the Color of the Year has ever been expanded into the major appliance category, and it's only available to the winners.
