Drying bedding in winter is a constant struggle – especially in a small home. Between large sheets and limited indoor space, laundry days often mean damp fabric draped over doors, chairs, and radiators for far longer than I’d like.

That all changed when I discovered a genius $13 solution: A spiral drying rack from Amazon. It creates plenty of drying space without taking up lots of precious floor space, making it perfect for small homes and winter laundry days.

This $13 Spiral Launry Trick Changed How I Dry Bedding in Winter

While many have a clothes dryer at their disposal, for those of us without or those who prefer to air-dry laundry to cut energy bills, space is always a concern.

Large clothes drying racks from Walmart are incredibly practical for drying clothes inside, especially when paired with the best dehumidifiers, such as the top-rated Insignia 35-pint dehumidifier from Best Buy.

However, they take up a lot of room. Not to mention that even the largest drying rack is often not large enough to accommodate more than one bed sheet. If, like me, you use the hotel method to layer bedding to keep warm in bed in winter, you know how frustrating this can be.

This spiral drying rack, however, changes that. By forming a tight curve with built-in airing space, this hanging rack provides a large surface area to drape wet bedding without it taking up a lot of space in your home.

For me, this has meant I can finally reclaim my small home office and no longer have damp bedding draped over all of my doors.

Even with a tumble dryer, this air-drying hack is a wise investment. When doing laundry, fabrics are subject to abrasions, and nowhere is this more true than in a hot dryer. Over time, after several cycles, this can wear fabrics down, reducing their softness. Air drying prevents this, plus it is better for the environment and will reduce your energy bills.

Along with bedding, this spiral drying rack can also make towels last longer and help to speed up towel drying between uses to conquer musty smells in a bathroom.

I am not the only one who loves this small-space hack, either. Ottilie Blackhall, Solved news writer for Homes & Gardens, shares, 'This handy drying tool is certainly an essential in my eyes, especially if you do not have a clothes dryer. It helps you to avoid the bad laundry habit of leaving damp items scrunched up, resulting in musty odors or even mold, if left wet for too long.

'It isn't just good for large laundry such as bedding and towels, either,' she points out. 'If you only have a few small items such as shirts or socks, or the odd item from handwashing laundry, it provides a compact hanging space for these to dry thoroughly without having to get a whole airing rack out of storage.'

What to Shop

There are plenty of other laundry hacks to make this chore easier, too. For example, I also love using the timer setting on my washing machine to set up a load overnight, perfect for putting out to dry as part of my morning routine.
