I'm a celebrity style expert, and Nancy Meyers' front door is the most inviting I've ever seen – her portico channels the timeless romance of the South of France

Subtle white, terracotta planters, ivy, and wicker furniture create a tranquil, welcoming atmosphere around the filmmakers' front door

The front door is a gateway, it's a first impression, it's the greeting every guest receives when they arrive at your home. As a Celebrity Style Editor, I've been searching far and wide for the most inspiring front doors. I think I've found the pinnacle at Nancy Meyers's home.

Nancy is known for the stunning interiors she creates on the silver screen, and she clearly applies the same attention to detail to her own house in California.

An Instagram post of her front door design features an all-white arched portico walkway, arched over slate floors. Lush green vines grow across the ceiling, complementing the small trees in terracotta pots. It feels transported from Provence to Los Angeles. So much so, in fact, that she has fittingly captured the post: 'Staycation.'

Shop the look

What is so alluring about Nancy Meyer's front door idea? Though I've seen hundreds of celebrity designs, this stands out above all others.

First, I love the distinctly European feel of Nancy's walkway, which feels like it could've been plucked directly out of the South of France. The paneled doorway has a Parisian flair, while the terracotta planters give it a more grounded farmhouse feel. As Nancy's caption indicates, it's vacation at home.

I also find Nancy Meyers' use of climbing plants to be incredibly inspiring. The stunning balance between the wildness of the greenery and the architectural details feels at once wild and manicured. It creates a highly welcoming ambiance that would make anyone want to walk beneath it.

Finally, I love the addition of storied furnishings to the walkway, which makes it feel like a room that is an extension of the home, rather than simply an outdoor space. The terracotta pots and wicker furniture are timeless pieces, and the lantern-style lamps add another classic element.

Meyer's balanced approach makes the look easy to recreate, even without a similar portico. A combination of materials, textures, and greens will always look stunning.

How inviting a walkway feels comes down to the energy put into it. The care around Nancy Meyer's space makes it instantly appealing.
