No one does home decor better than interior designers themselves – so here are 5 designer-owned stores to have on your radar right now

These designers know how to make a space look good, and turns out, they know how to make exceptional home decor, too

We always trust interior designers for their expert design advice and impeccable taste in home decor. So when it comes to buying decor products for our spaces, it only makes sense to shop interior designer-owned stores.

You see, interior designers are constantly surrounded by all sorts of home decor, and they have an innate knowledge of what makes a space work. Because of this, they've developed signature design styles that speak to their likes, dislikes, and opinions on what's best for the home. Their brands, therefore, become an extension of their style – providing shoppers like myself with intentionally-designed pieces that, of course, are designer-approved.

I'll usually head to a designer-owned store before any other, if not to look for a specific piece, to look for inspiration. These designer-owned home decor brands don't just follow interior design trends, they set them. By infusing their vast knowledge and design expertise into each collection, these designers have created premium home brands that are not only style-driven, but good quality and worth your money.

McGee & Co by Shea McGee

McGee & Co holds the title as one of our favorite designer-owned stores here at Homes & Gardens. Interior designer Shea McGee and her husband Syd created the brand while building their design firm, Studio McGee, 10 years ago. Now, a decade later, the brand is well-known throughout the design industry as a go-to shop for stylish and high-quality home decor.

While the products at McGee & Co vary in design, much of it appeals to the modern rustic design aesthetic, and all of it features Shea McGee's signature 'modern charm' – that is, a relaxed yet elevated design style. From couches and rugs to kitchenware and even outdoor furniture, McGee & Co.'s collection includes pieces that are designed to make the home not only look beautiful, but feel beautiful, too.

With such a vast collection, McGee & Co. cements itself as a designer-owned store that always delivers the best.

Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines

There's something so captivating about Joanna Gaines's style. Perhaps it's the cozy farmhouse style she infuses into everything she designs, or maybe it's her love for repurposing antique furniture and giving it new life. Regardless, Joanna's design style is one we can't get enough of, and lucky for us, she's created a whole store dedicated to it: Magnolia Home.

Founded in Waco, Texas in 2003 by Joanna and her husband Chip, Magnolia has grown from a small boutique to a large-scale, well-loved interior decor brand that attracts attention far and wide. Joanna's signature modern farmhouse style is prevalent in each product – from dining tables and chairs to vases and kitchen utensils.

Magnolia's prices are always reasonable and of great quality. The collections are trend-led but never overly so; her style is unwavering and timeless. If you like the classic modern farmhouse aesthetic, this is the store to head to. The IRL shopping experience is also just that, an experience, so if you are in the area, a visit to the store (and the bakery, restaurant, and market) is a must.

Jonathan Adler by Jonathan Adler

Modern glamour is basically synonymous with designer Jonathan Adler. The designer, who has been infiltrating interiors with eye-catching styles since the 1990s, is an expert on all things maximalist. His eponymous brand demonstrates his love for color, pattern, and playful design, and for those reasons, it's become a designer-owned store that I always find myself shopping at when I need some exciting home decor.

Jonathan Adler's products range from large furniture pieces like couches and beds to smaller decorations like stylish board games and pillows. The brand even offers a range of decorative pottery – which was Jonathan's first passion as a child and remains an important part of his life. Most recently, Jonathan ventured into pet decor with his oh-so chic collaboration with Ruggable.

For those craving some loud luxury in their homes, Jonathan Adler's store is where you will find it.

Sleek, fresh, and laid-back are three words that come to mind when I think of interior designer Amber Lewis's style. Her home decor brand, Shoppe Amber Interiors, is just the same. Filled with products that lean into the modern organic design trend, Shoppe is a fan favorite for simple and effortlessly stylish home decor.

Amber and her husband Mike launched Shoppe over 10 years ago in Southern California with the intention of providing shoppers a place to shop for relaxed yet elegant home decor. Accentuated with Amber's innate California modern aesthetic, the products from Shoppe feature neutral, earthy hues, decadent textures, clean lines, and sleek finishes.

If decorating with neutrals to create a home that feels like a calm, relaxing oasis is your interior design goal, Shoppe Amber Interiors might just become your new favorite designer-owned store.

Founded in 2012 by interior designer Kathy Kuo, the brand reflects Kathy's expertise on classic and traditional elegance through furnishings and decor that have lasting appeal.

Kathy's brand has a certain universality to it – attracting lovers of all sorts of interior design styles. With a vast catalogue of product including everything from outdoor decor to indoor furniture, rugs, and artwork, Kathy Kuo Home has something for everyone – regardless of your taste.

Kathy's passion for elegance and timeless beauty is evident in the products she designs. Because of that, her brand has become one of our favorite designer-owned stores that we know we can rely on for quality and stylish pieces.

A huge part of the job of an interior designer is to be knowledgeable about home decor. That's why shopping interior designer-owned stores feels like you're getting your own personal design consultation. You can trust that these designers curate their product range carefully, and only feature products that they too would use in their home.

While shopping these designer-owned stores is an easy way to infuse your space with a curated style, it's always worth it to hire an interior designer for hands-on help if you need it. They have the knowledge and expertise to help bring your vision to life.
