Ever wonder what interior designers buy for themselves? Me too, so I asked – here are the best things 7 designers have bought for their bedrooms this year
From cozy sheets to chic table lamps, these are the products that have transformed designers' bedrooms, for the better

Since designers spend their days developing interiors for clients, they, of course, have immense knowledge on what home decor products are actually worth it. And that leads me to believe that their personal spaces are designed with nothing but the best.
If you're looking for some beautiful, design-approved pieces for your bedroom ideas, then look no further (I've already asked interior designers about the best kitchen products as well as the best bathroom products). So, what are the products that have made a difference in their bedrooms in 2025? And I don't mean the bedrooms they design, I mean their personal bedrooms – the place they go to unwind, relax, and enjoy privacy.
Below, find the best products that 7 designers have bought for their bedrooms this year – and why you should get them for yourself, too.
1. Comfortable sheets
The key to a relaxing bedroom is simple – all it takes is arranging your bed with the most comfortable sheets possible. According to interior designer Gabriela Eisenhart, the best thing she's bought for her bedroom this year was bed sheets, and in particular, a bamboo set from Ettitude.
'Ettitude's bamboo sheets will seriously change your life,' Gabriela tells me. 'I can't sleep on anything else now. They have this amazing ability to balance temperature, keeping you cool when it's warm, and cozy when it's cold.'
Not only are Ettitude's sheets ultra-comfortable, but their sateen weave makes them extra stylish, too. With Gabriela's stamp of approval, I'd say Ettitude's sets are in the running for best bed sheets.
These sheets are Gabriela's top bedroom pick, and for good reason. Their material is so soft, it'll feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. For those who run hot while they sleep, these sheets are bound to keep you feeling cool and comfortable all night long.
Here's another standout pick for bedding. Breescape's sheets are made from the brand's innovative BlendTek fiber – a material that is cool to the touch and moisture-wicking. These sheets can ensure comfort throughout the night. They are lightweight, breathable, and an overall great choice for bedsheets.
It doesn't get much better than the classic percale sheets from Brooklinen. These sheets are crisp, breathable, and ultra comfortable for a relaxing night's sleep. Plus, they're available in tons of different colors, so they are bound to look stylish on your bed.
2. Nightstand decor
The best bedrooms are the ones that look collected and layered, and nightstand decor can help make that happen. Most nightstand decor is either solely practical, or solely decorative. But interior designer Steph Schlegelmilch may have found a product that perfectly blends both of those features so elegantly – and it happens to be her favorite bedroom purchase of the year.
Design expertise in your inbox – from inspiring decorating ideas and beautiful celebrity homes to practical gardening advice and shopping round-ups.
'The best thing I bought for my bedroom this year is this decorative pill box tray from Les Collection,' she says. 'It sits next on my nightstand and is so aesthetically beautiful to look at, but of course functional, too!'
Decor that is highly practical as well as ultra stylish is a win-win in my book, and Steph's pill box tray is a prime example. It's a decoration that's functional, of course, but it can elevate the look of your nightstand, and perhaps your whole room.
I can't get over how chic this pill box is! It's such a stylish nightstand decoration that features seven compartments for weekly pills. It's made from marble and features a concave center which creates the perfect spot for holding jewelry while you sleep.
Here's another practical yet chic nightstand decoration – a jewelry box. This one is made of chic vegan leather with a metal clasp that looks sleek and stylish. Upon opening, it's spacious and organized, has removable compartments, and features small mirror. At 9" long and 4.6" tall, it's just the right size for a nightstand, too.
To hold reading glasses, a water bottle, or any small nighttime necessities, this tray is an essential nightstand decoration. It's small in size, at 7" in length, but that makes it perfect for a petite bedside table. Plus, its antique brass finish makes it that much more attractive.
3. Decorative lamps
Lighting is an essential feature for bedrooms. As we stray away from the big overhead light, it seems that interior designers are keen on finding table lamps that can create a soothing ambience and add a level of style to a room, too.
According to interior designer Lauren Saab, Soho Home's Ayesha Table Lamp is her best bedroom purchase to date. 'The Ayesha from Soho Home carves its presence from solid onyx, each piece marked with unique natural patterning,' she says. 'Light glows through the stone, wrapping the room in a warm halo. It is part sculpture, part light source, and adds a refined, collected feel to the space.'
Designer Joe Waroquier also highlighted a lamp as his best bedroom purchase – two matching antique chinoiserie lamps, in fact. 'Bedside lamps are an absolute must, and why not let them make a statement,' Joe tells me. 'They have elevated the room and have given the room a fresh 'New Romantic' feeling for the changes of seasons ahead.'
And to make your bedroom feel even more luxurious, try adding a remote controlling device to your lamps – a detail that designer Andrea Sinkin is glad she bought for her bedroom this year. 'I also put remote control on decorative lamps that we have in the bedroom so I can enjoy them until I’m ready to go to sleep and then just hit the button and they are off,' Andrea explains. 'I don’t have to get up and turn them off so I use them more.'
This is the lamp that Lauren bought for her bedroom this year, and it's such a chic choice. Made from onyx stone, it features a unique color profile that comes to life when lit. To create the perfect ambience in your bedroom, use the dimmer which comes with this lamp to adjust the strength of its output to your preference.
Every bedroom could benefit from some vintage-inspired decorations. This lamp could certainly do the trick. Sold in a pair, this lamp features a chinoiserie design on its base and a crisp white shade on top. Its gold stand and circular gold cap add some decorative appeal to its design.
Looking for something with a modern look? This lamp should do the trick. It features a spherical base and a simple shade – all in a soft gray color. It can become a stylish bedside tabletop decoration with its monochromatic design. Plus, its miniature shape makes it ideal for small bedrooms.
4. Bedroom chairs
Every bedroom needs a chair. 'A chair is always useful in a bedroom – a place to perch on while putting your shoes on, to drape tomorrow’s outfit, or just sit by the window and read,' interior designer Jen Baxter explains. That's why her best bedroom purchase of the year is a chair.
However, Jen's chair isn't just any chair – it's a vintage model that she found at an auction. 'This chair attributed to George Hunzinger is elegant, unique, and practical (as it folds up and can easily be moved around),' she tells me. 'I smile every time I see it just because of its lovely design and craftsmanship.'
Of course, any bedroom furniture should be practical. But it doesn't hurt when it looks stylish, too. A chic accent chair – antique or not – can certainly make a difference in your bedroom in more ways than one.
Here's a bedroom chair that you'd never want to leave. Its velvet fabric makes it extra soft and cozy, while its swivel design is ideal for comfortable lounging. Not only that, but its rich green color can add depth and sophistication to any bedroom.
I love the effortlessly elegant design of this chair. It features a sleek, tilted-back frame that's inspired by the elegance of mid-century furniture. It's finished with a solid ash wood frame and features plush ivory cushions. This chair could definitely enhance the look of a mid-century modern bedroom.
Want some furniture that can help your bedroom lean into the modern farmhouse style? Here's your pick. This chair features a unique, spindle-inspired wooden frame that's been painted in crisp black. Plus, it's finished with some soft cushions in off-white for a stylish contrast.
5. Stylish side tables
It's always a good idea to incorporate a side table into the design of your bedroom. Whether used as a nightstand, a table next to a chair, or simply an extra surface for miscellaneous decor, side tables can help make a bedroom look and feel complete.
According to designer Debbie Mathews LeRoy, a stylish side table is one of the best things she's bought for her bedroom this year. 'I just purchased a Corinthian Acrylic Side Table for my bedroom,' Debbie tells me. 'It adds a transitional and airy flair when mixed with the walnut antiques and my existing Maison Bagues crystal chandelier.'
Just like the option that Debbie chose, the right side table can tastefully complement the existing decor in your room – aside from just providing a surface to place belongings and nighttime necessities.
Here's the side table that Debbie bought for her bedroom. It's a stylish choice that's modern in design but traditional in shape. This side table could certainly add some sleek sophistication to your bedroom, and its clear design can tastefully complement any existing decor.
Looking for something unique to add to your bedroom? Try this side table. It features a smooth mango wood surface as well as a hammered metal base – a combination that looks contemporary and slightly industrial. It'll definitely become a chic addition to your bedroom.
This stylish side table is bound to bring some character to your bedroom. Made from wood and painted in a natural shade of light brown, this table is a classic choice for a nightstand. Aside from its top surface, it has a lower shelf for extra storage space. Plus, it features the beloved scalloped decor trend. How could it get any better?
