Giada De Laurentiis' kitchen essentials include a Japanese chef knife, a Dutch oven, and a stainless clad frying pan
The award-winning chef has revealed what she needs to have on hand in her own kitchen, and everything is available to shop now
As an Emmy award-winning chef and TV personality, we can trust Giada De Laurentiis for any tips that will upgrade our culinary skills, starting with the right cookware. Fans of Giada at Home may be no stranger to pausing the show and trying to get a glimpse of the tools in De Laurentiis's backdrop – but thankfully for us, those days are over. The chef has revealed the products she uses every day, and, spoiler alert, it includes one of the most iconic Dutch Ovens on the market.
'Using a commercial or production kitchen doesn’t work for what I do,' De Laurentiis told CNN. 'I’m trying to teach the average person how to make a certain dish without too many steps. That translates to being at home and using my own pots and pans on my own stove. That’s how you make cooking really accessible.'
She has been sharing some of her food essentials over on the lifestyle platform Giadzy, but when it comes to her kitchen essentials, she has opted for some classics.
A Japanese knife ( 'You want one that feels good in your hand,' she told CNN), is the first product on her list that every kitchen should have. Additionally, the beloved Le Creuset Dutch oven and a stainless steel frying pan make the cut. Below, We rounded up DeLaurentiis' kitchen faves for easy shopping.
Knife
Every chef needs a good knife, and this Japanese blade is perfect for chopping, slicing, and dicing.
Dutch Oven
A staple for a reason, this cast iron round oven is ideal for slow-cooking, roasting, baking, and, frying. We are partial to this rich, burnt orange, but it comes in a wide variety of colors.
Steel
The cooling handle and compatibility with gas, electric, and induction cooktops makes this set of 3 pans a must-have in the kitchen.
De Laurentiis also explained that it is crucial to be intentional with kitchen buys to reduce clutter and make items as attainable as possible.
'I look at people’s drawers, and there are a ton of gadgets and utensils in there that nobody ever uses,” she told the news outlet. 'If you have all the staples, you will never feel like you can’t put a meal together at the drop of a hat. You’ll only have to go to the store to buy vegetables and protein.'
Giada De Laurentiis just gave us an excuse to pick up a new Dutch Oven, so naturally, we can't ignore this endorsement.
