Sherwin-Williams just launched an AI-powered app that's made choosing a paint color so much easier
If you struggle to know where to start with choosing paint colors for a room, this app is for you
It's not uncommon to find choosing the right colors for home decor projects a painstaking task. If you've ever embarked on curating a new color scheme for a room, you'll know just how much there is to consider before hopefully landing on the right shade.
But, that process may have just become a whole lot easier, thanks to a brand new interior color selection app launched by paint brand Sherwin-Williams.
Powered by AI technology, the Sherwin-Williams Color Expert™ app gives homeowners personalized room color ideas based on existing decor, making the color selection process tailored to your needs and in turn, hopefully less overwhelming.
'Homeowners who love design and doing their own projects tend to struggle when it comes to choosing the perfect paint color,' explains Sue Wadden, Director of Color Marketing at Sherwin-Williams.
'On average, they consult over ten touchpoints before committing to a color, indicating how overwhelming this process can be.'
Having recognized that the color selection process is often tricky for homeowners, the brand aims to simplify it with the new app.
'This revolutionary color technology will give you the confidence you need by seamlessly allowing you to find the right color without the stress you normally go through,' continues Sue. Read on to learn how the app cleverly reimagines the paint color selection process.

With the new app, paint ideas are based on the existing decor in a room. By uploading an image of your chosen room, the AI-powered technology serves up instant color suggestions by analyzing the existing decor – from furniture to artwork on the walls. Whatever your interior design style, this takes out a lot of the guesswork when imagining a whole color scheme.
Once the paint colors are recommended for your room, you'll be able to see virtually how a color would appear in your space, before ordering any color samples through the app: either free color chips or peel-and-stick samples for purchase. It also allows you to save any colors you like to refer back to while you deliberate.
In addition, the app offers other useful features that streamline the color selection process while allowing you to gain inspiration: you can explore the complete Sherwin-Williams color catalog (consisting of over 1,000 shades) while taking a closer look at specific color families. You can also view the brand's latest color trends and expert picks and insights to spark inspiration for your space.
If you're about to embark on a new home decor project, you'll no doubt find this app helpful when it comes to making color choices, especially if you're not sure where to start. You can try it out for yourself for free, available on both iPhone and Android by downloading it at The App Store or Google Play.
