The 16 most popular home accessory trends on Instagram

There have been 13,000 google searches for home accessories in the last month.

If there’s anything that the last few months have brought us, it’s change! With many people using lockdown as an opportunity to work on their homes, searches for home accessories reached 13,000 in the last month.

Interested in popular home design trends, MyJobQuote took to Instagram to determine the most instagrammed home accessory trends of 2020 so far. Here is what they found.

1. GALLERY WALL

At the top of the list are gallery walls. This trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon with 1,256,808 posts on Instagram under #gallerywall. Celebrities such as Ben Stiller, Jessica Alba and Nick Grimshaw have hopped on this trend in their respective homes; gallery walls invite personality into a room and help make a room feel less empty.

2. HOOP ART

Second on the list is hoop art with 603,305 posts on Instagram. This is one of the newer trends – what started as a small hobby for many has turned into a home décor addition that is taking over their homes. Not only is this 2020 home accessory trend popular on Instagram but also TikTok, with over 111,600 videos under #hoopart.

4. PLANTS

In fourth place is plants with 289,901 posts on Instagram under the combined hashtags of #homejungle and #homeplants. From cactuses, to snake plants and lucky bamboo we just can’t seem to get enough of plants. Not only are people proud parents to children and pets but now plants too – their ability to provide some responsibility as well as their potential health benefits has been a hit with many.

Rattan has made yet another comeback, with over 51,773 posts on Instagram using the hashtag #rattanbaskets. However, it wasn’t the only natural material that is trending in 2020 with #wickerfurniture racking in 43,907 instagram posts. Both materials have been around since the 70s, proving popular then and now. With sustainability and ethically sourced goods at the forefront of our minds, it’s no surprise people are bringing nature into their home décor and accessories.

Cloud mirrors (also known as foam mirrors) are a DIY TikTok trend slowly making their way over to Instagram with 1,858 posts currently. Though this a young trend, it shows no sign of stopping anytime soon with popular youtubers posting DIY tutorials on their channels.
