Let 2026 be the year you transform your arduous house cleaning to fast and immaculate dust-busting with this essential appliance upgrade.
The Dyson V15 Detect, now discounted to a rare $499.99 for a limited time, is simultaneously one of the most powerful vacuums we've tested and one of the most convenient.
This high-tech cordless vacuum tops our best vacuums guide in so many ways, making this one of the most exciting deals I've seen in this year's after-Christmas sales.
Why the Powerful Dyson V15 Detect Will Transform Your Home Cleaning in 2026
Dyson V15 Detect | was $849.99, now $499.99 at Dyson (save $350)
Incredibly high suction power and a market-leading floorhead allows the Dyson V15 Detect to clean better than almost all other vacuums, with dust-revealing features to make cleaning easier than ever.

The video above says it all. The Dyson V15 Detect should not be packing such strong cleaning power for a cordless stick vacuum. But it does, which is exactly why, after testing 33 vacuums for Homes & Gardens, this is the one I continue to use at home.
Whether I'm vacuuming my partner's long hair from carpets or hard floors, or some caked-on dirt that my housemates have tracked in, the V15 Detect picks everything up on the first pass every time.
This is the type of cleaning power you'd expect from one of the best upright vacuums – bulky, heavy appliances that take up loads of space in storage and demand body strength to lug around the house.
But the lightweight Dyson V15 Detect is completely cordless, can be used with one hand, and is small and nimble enough to clean tight spaces and be stored away with ease.
Strong cleaning power and intuitive features are why the Dyson V15 Detect typically costs so much – a whopping $849.99 at full price – so to see it reduced to just $499.99 is a major (and rare) drop. You're paying for a genuinely transformative appliance that makes it easier to create a calmer, cleaner home, requiring less effort, taking up less of your precious storage space, and getting rid of those frustrations caused by a vacuum that can't do the job.
We test vacuum cleaners across debris of different sizes – everything from fine powder, including dust and dander, to large food crumbs that are classic kitchen spills – and it's rare for a cordless vacuum to be able to ace them all so flawlessly. This one does, however.
I also test the best vacuums for pet hair in a local cat and dog shelter to find out how they perform on real-world fur, and this is another area where the V15 Detect shines. I didn't have to run the vacuum over the same patch of floor again and again to pick up stubborn fur, and I've still never had to cut any wrapped hair out of the brushroll. It banishes fur and captures the allergenic pet dander in its whole-machine HEPA filtration.
It goes beyond strong cleaning performance, too. Dyson has long been innovating features that the rest of the market has soon emulated, with the most useful being a green diode laser that reveals dust that the naked eye can't see:
It sounds like a gimmick, but I've ended up using this laser in the Dyson V15 to test whether other vacuums have left any dust behind. It makes for a very satisfying clean: As soon as it reveals hidden dust with its laser, the next pass shows zero debris left, demonstrating how all of it has been sucked up with ease.
Adding to the cleaning convenience is a particle sensor that tracks how much the vacuum is picking up on via the digital screen on top, along with floor sensors that recognize whether you're vacuuming carpet or hard floors so it can automatically adjust power up or down and conserve battery for you.
Carpets and messy areas require a bit more oomph to be properly cleaned, and the V15 Detect can up the suction power in under a second when it's needed, so you can clean around the house without doing any guesswork.
The Dyson V15 Detect is discounted to $499.99 for a limited time.

The Dyson V15 Detect may be a personal favorite of mine, but there are many other vacuum cleaners we've rigorously tested that will transform how easy it is to clean your home.
All prices correct at time of publication.
The Dyson may be unbeaten in its convenience, but the Miele Guard L1 Cat & Dog boasts the strongest cleaning performance out of all of the 90 vacuums we've tested at Homes & Gardens. It's expensive, but with the right care, a Miele canister vacuum can last longer than a decade, so consider it an investment worth making.

If the V15 Detect is a bit too expensive, the V12 Detect Slim is the smaller, lighter version, with the same dust-revealing smart features, just packaged into a slimmer model. It's $120 cheaper thanks to its hefty discount in the sales, and while it's not quite as powerful as the V15 Detect, it's not far off.

The Dyson V11 cleans almost as well as the V15 Detect, but it's much cheaper as it doesn't have any of the smart 'Detect' features. If you're fussed about the frills, this is the strongest cordless Dyson without them.

The Dyson V15 Detect and the Shark POWERDETECT Upright are two of our all-time favorite vacuum cleaners on test. While the V15 Detect is cordless and convenient, the Shark POWERDETECT Upright is perfect for bigger homes, with a larger dustbin, a wider floorhead, and relentless suction that can pick up hair and dust in seconds.

The Dreame H14 Pro is the best vacuum-mop combo we've tested, and an appliance I'll continue to shout about as it has genuinely cut my floorcare time in half. Vacuuming and mopping simultaneously, while scrubbing away stains and leaving the floors dry a moment later, it's hard to ask for an easier clean.

If you really want to revolutionize how easy it is to keep your home spotless, the Yeedi S20 Infinity does the legwork for you. It's the best robot vacuum we've tested, vacuuming and mopping an impressive amount of grime from every floor type, while requiring hardly any maintenance.
