As Charlotte York in Sex and the City, Kristin Davis typically donned prim and proper pink and white outfits, with the occasional neutral ensemble thrown into the mix. However, the actor's interior style leans a little more adventurous, as recently proven by a video on her TikTok page.

The clip shows Davis sitting on a murky-hued olive green sofa in her living space, which complements her natural wood door frame and cream walls perfectly. While many may opt for a more vibrant emerald option, Davis's moodier twist on the classic (with subtle browner undertones) has an earthy, grounding effect that emphasizes the color's connection to the natural world.

The connection between green and the organic world is palpable; as such, decorating with green items in a room, such as the living space, can completely transform the communal area into an oasis.

'Decorating with green, even if it’s just a plush green sofa, can transform your living space into a serene haven,' says designer Nina Lichtenstein. 'Green, the color of nature, evokes feelings of tranquility, renewal, and growth. It’s no wonder that incorporating green into home decor can create a soothing and refreshing ambiance.'

When it comes to styling around green sofas (or any statement sofas for that matter), Lichtenstein suggests searching for items that will be comptaible with the shade of the seating.

'Add depth and texture with a mix of cushions, throws, and rugs,' she suggests. 'Choose complementary colors and patterns that enhance the green without overwhelming it.'

We love how Davis has kept her sofa styling simple with a woven, oatmeal throw blanket, and a patterned, navy blue cushion which contrasts the murky green. In fact, Lichtenstein encourages mixing and matching.

'Don’t be afraid to mix patterns, especially if you’re aiming for a more eclectic or bohemian vibe,' she says. 'Stripes, florals, and geometric patterns can all work together to create a dynamic and visually interesting space.'

Finally, be mindful of a home's existing decor, as bold flooring or wall color can clash with a green sofa.

'If your sofa is a bold shade of green, balance it with neutral walls and floors,' Lichtenstein says. 'This approach allows the sofa to be the focal point while ensuring the overall look remains sophisticated and uncluttered.'

To keep with a natural theme, wood floors and neutral walls would work best as accompaniments for a green sofa.
