Lenny Kravitz took to Instagram to share a workout video, and the outdoor location is oh-so chic.

The musician's patio idea is a wonder to behold. It features an all-gray color scheme, from the gray wooden flooring to the gray outdoor furniture. The entire space is surrounded by a gray, slatted structure that offers shade on the sides and the roof.

Interior designers adore Kravitz's method of designing a patio. Nina Lichtenstein, Westchester-based interior designer, tells Homes & Gardens: 'Lenny Kravitz, renowned musician and style icon, is not only celebrated for his musical talents but also for his impeccable taste in design, exemplified by his stunning patio. Lenny Kravitz's patio design offers numerous benefits, from its sophisticated all-gray color scheme and practical slat roof to its overall embodiment of style and functionality.'

She has been celebrated for designing, renovating, and building elegant living spaces.

Breaking down the look, two design choices stand out for turning Kravitz's outdoor living room into a tranquil paradise: the gray color scheme, and the slatted roof he's installed. First, the color scheme brings a cozy tranquility to his patio. Kathy Kuo, NYC-based interior designer effuses: 'The weathered grey monochrome look of this patio is beautifully modern and subtly chic.'

Lichtenstein adds: 'The monochromatic gray palette of Lenny Kravitz's patio contributes to its modern and sophisticated aesthetic. It enhances the space by adding timeless elegance and creating a serene atmosphere. Furthermore, it's an incredibly versatile look. Gray serves as a neutral base that can be easily accessorized with pops of color or texture. This flexibility allows for seasonal updates and personalization without compromising the overall aesthetic.'

The slatted roof is an equally notable feature of the space. It provides sun protection while maintaining the open, airy feel of Kravitz's small patio. Kuo states: 'Often, with outdoor living spaces, it's nice to let the surrounding environment shine as a visual focus; I love how the green of the plant life on either side and the blue of the sky through the roof slats really stands out against the soothing gray tones.'

'The slat roof provides essential shade, shielding the patio from direct sunlight and creating a comfortable outdoor environment even on hot days. This allows for extended use of the patio throughout the day. The slat roof also adds a layer of privacy by partially screening the patio from neighboring views without completely enclosing the space. It creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere for relaxation and gatherings,' continues Lichtenstein.

She adds, 'Unlike solid roofs, slat roofs allow for natural ventilation, promoting airflow and preventing the patio from feeling enclosed. This contributes to a pleasant outdoor experience, especially during warmer months.'
