In my mission to hunt down the most effective pet hair cleaners, I test vacuums, have visited engineering labs, and speak regularly to industry experts about how to get stubborn fur off our floors.
But perhaps most surprisingly, I've also spoken to dozens of pet owners to find out their tried-and-tested methods for staying on top of pet hair, and one answer reigned supreme: A robot vacuum cleaner.

Punteha van Terheyden, tester and Head of Solved at Homes & Gardens, still uses the Omni S1 Pro in her home over a year later, as it's so effective. She lives with her family, and two shedding cats, and the eufy robot vacuum has been transformative when dealing with the constant buildup of hair.

And while you're cleaning up after pets, it's not just the fur that's hard to clean; it's also the muddy pawprints, the stains, and the general grime they leave behind.
What makes the eufy Omni S1 Pro so great at dealing with this mess, too, is that the mop uses a specialized cleaning solution that targets odors and stains, is safe for pets to walk on, and dries within a few minutes.
This, really, is how to achieve a home with floors that are so spotless, you can walk around barefoot. And to have that option while living with pets is nothing short of a technological miracle.
The eufy Omni S1 Pro has also never been more affordable than this. We tested it when it first came out, and even at its full, $1499.99 price, we thought it was worth every cent. Now, it's $800 cheaper – less than half the retail price – and we couldn't recommend it more.
The eufy app is straightforward to use, too. You can set schedules, whether a few times a week or twice a day, and you can set no-go zones for areas that are too fiddly for the robot to clean, like behind the TV where there are lots of cables, for example.
And when it comes to essential maintenance, Punteha loves how easy it is. 'The app alerts you to what needs doing and gives a step by step instruction list, with graphics that move to show you which part to look for, remove, and clean,' she says. 'It's fantastic.'
