A vacuum cleaner has one job: Suck up mess, so we can remove it from our homes. We do this not only to make our space feel cleaner and calmer – although that's endlessly valuable – but also because accumulated dust, dirt, and hair can impact our health and even damage our floors.
So, when you see your vacuum miss a patch, it's more than just an aesthetic frustration. You're leaving behind debris that can affect your well-being. But the Dyson V15 Detect, currently discounted by an extremely rare $220 at Best Buy, cleans mess on the first pass every time.
It's uncommon for a cordless stick to boast that level of cleaning power – hence the usual high price tag – so when I find it discounted by this much, I have to shout about it. It's the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned, and it has genuinely made cleaning my home easier.
Dyson V15 Detect Extra | was $849.99, now $629.99 at Best Buy (save $220)
With suction so powerful it cleans on the first pass, a laser that reveals hidden dust, and smart features that adapt to your floors, it's hard to ask for more from a vacuum cleaner.
This 'Extra' version also includes every compatible attachment you can get, including a motorized hair tool for cleaning upholstery, which would cost up to $60 more if bought separately.

The Dyson V15 Detect Is Simply One of the Most Powerful Vacuum Cleaners Out There
I test vacuums professionally for Homes & Gardens, and have spent more than 300 hours doing so across 35 different models – and without a doubt, the Dyson V15 Detect is my favorite.
That's why it's exciting to see the Dyson V15 Detect discounted by a huge $220. This is rare – typically only seen around Black Friday – but the Dyson deal at Best Buy also includes every possible attachment, a set that would cost an additional $60 if bought separately.
I have been using it as the main vacuum in my home for about a year now, and even as time has passed and the Dyson isn't as shiny and brand-new as it once was, its performance is still just as outstanding. Whether it's on carpets, sofas, or tile floors, the V15 Detect picks up every mess on the first pass virtually every time.
That's almost unheard of for cordless vacuums, as they are typically restricted by the power limitations of a rechargeable battery. But the V15 Detect cleans as if it's a corded upright vacuum, without taking up all closet space. It uses ultra-powerful suction power combined with a formidable floorhead design that makes sure no mess is left behind.
This is true for fur, too, one of the most challenging cleaning tasks for a vacuum cleaner. I have tested it extensively at a cat and dog shelter that is brimming with animal hair, and it didn't struggle whatsoever in pulling up fur from entrance mats, thick rugs, sofas, carpets, and hard floors. It's the best vacuum for pet hair if you're looking for cordless convenience.
And to add to this convenience, the Dyson V15 Detect makes cleaning more effortless thanks to a green laser light that reveals dust that you can't normally see:
This has been a game-changer for me and my housemates, who now love to be able to see when the floor is truly clean.
The vacuum also detects how dirty your floors are, and whether you're vacuuming carpet, so that it can automatically raise the suction power when you need it. It means you no longer have to fiddle around with settings as you move throughout the house, but equally, you don't have to waste precious battery life when you're vacuuming easier surfaces, like when cleaning laminate in the kitchen. This means your cordless vacuum's battery lasts longer for each charge.
I have visited Dyson's engineering labs in Malmesbury, UK, and I've observed the dedication that goes into designing these market-leading vacuums. It makes sense that they outperform almost all of the competition, but it also explains why they usually cost as much as they do.
So, seize the opportunity to grab it while it's $220 more affordable than usual. It might be a while until it's this heavily discounted again.
The Dyson V15 Detect is available for $629.99 at Best Buy.

The V15 Detect may be my top pick in many ways, but it isn't the only vacuum cleaner that will leave no traces of dust behind. Here are a few more winners from our tests.
All prices correct at time of publication.
The Dyson V11 cleans almost as well as the V15 Detect, but it's much cheaper as it doesn't have any of the smart 'Detect' features, including the green laser and the automatic power adjustment. It still has full HEPA filtration and first-pass cleaning almost every time.

The Dyson V12 Detect Slim is the slimmer, lighter, more affordable alternative to the V15 Detect. The suction isn't as powerful, and you may find you'll be going over the floor perhaps a few more times than with the V15 Detect, but it still outperforms almost all other cordless vacuums out there.
Walmart is selling the Dyson V12 Detect Slim for $180 less than anywhere else.

Another of our best-on-test vacuums, the Shark POWERDETECT Upright pulls up every type of mess in one pass almost every time. It's great for big homes thanks to its 0.5gal dustbin, and suction power that's unrestricted by a battery.

The Miele Guard L1 Cat & Dog boasts the strongest cleaning performance out of the 93 vacuums we've tested. It's bigger and bulkier than the cordless Dyson, but the performance really is next-level, generating more airflow and stronger suction than any other.

Perfect for big homes if you're on a budget, this Bissell upright vacuum banished pet hair on test, both from floors and furniture, using the handheld attachments.

To make your weekly cleans less intense, a robot vacuum can pick up dust, dirt, and hair daily for you, without you having to do very much at all. The Yeedi S14 Plus is one of the best we've tested, which somehow costs $100s less than others that perform similarly.
