Rebel Wilson's home office taps into a playful 2024 design trend using an easy, replicable technique
Brightening up an all-white room has never been easier than with the comedian's stylish office design choice
While an all-white room can be calming and help with relaxation and focus, it can also look sterile and boring. Luckily, a few well-placed decor details can subvert this pitfall. Rebel Wilson's home provides the perfect inspiration.
The actress and comedian took to Instagram to discuss her much-anticipated memoir, and revealed the design of her home office. Wilson's space is color-drenched in white, from the walls to the door and the trim – to even the desk chair. Despite the prevalence of the white room ideas, the eye is instantly drawn to a different color: pink.
Behind Wilson, a sparkly pink piece of art featuring 1959 Barbie brings glamor and fun to the white home office paint color. Beneath the portrait, low, mirrored shelving is filled with decorative objects; from vases to books, to picture frames. Not only is the look striking, but creating colorful and contrasting vignettes will be a huge 2024 interior design trend.

Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens says: 'Using a colorful vignette in an otherwise neutral room is becoming an increasingly popular design feature in the home, especially for ways to decorate a rental property. This method of brightening and adding interest to a room is not only simple to create, you can easily swap in and take out decorations to keep your curated display feeling fresh.'

For instance, Rebel's office draws specifically on a huge microtrend of the last year. Kathy Kuo, NYC-based interior designer states: 'Rebel's home office embraces the 'Barbie-core' trend in a super-fun way. If you're going to add bright pink to a room, there's no reason to be shy about it! I love how the decorative objects on the desk echo the pink tones in the Barbie art. The effect is fun, feminine, and oh-so-chic.'
Kathy Kuo is a celebrated interior designer and international guru within the home and lifestyle space. She has 20+ years of experience in the design industry.
While this look is still on-trend and current in 2024, there may be a time in the not-so-distant future when it's out of style. Luckily, the way that Rebel has installed the look means she just needs to change the art, and switch some objects on the shelf to reform, rather than redo, the entire room.

While trends aren't for everyone, the beauty of a stylish vignette is that it can be personalized to your ideal design style – as well as easily changed. Rebel Wilson's Barbie-core office is just one iteration.
