What Your Star Sign Says About How You Should Decorate Your Home in 2026

Astrologers and designers decode the aesthetic inclinations written in the stars

I’m from Los Angeles, the quasi-spiritual capital of the world, so I learned the signs of the zodiac before I learned to conjugate verbs in Spanish. It’s a party trick, a conversational shortcut, and a surprisingly effective psychological tool for fostering closeness – or, in dating, occasionally opting out of it entirely (‘we’re simply not compatible’).

Star signs do tend to reveal quite a bit about personality, temperament, ambition, and desire. But what about the home? Does the daredevilish spirit of an Aries translate to bolder bedding choices? And if Taurus is a known magpie when it comes to jewelry, do those same indulgent instincts show up in the living room?

Fact or fiction – fun either way – here’s what your star sign might say about how you decorate your home in 2026, according to interior design trends, designers, and, of course, actual astrologers.

Aries: March 21 – April 19

Angular and high-energy, an Aries interior in 2026 is anything but dull, so expect fiery hues, confident lines, and more pattern play than most would dare.

Aries is the baby of the zodiac. Energetically, they’re young, hungry, and instinctive, approaching design with fresh eyes and an appetite for impact. According to Anthony Perrotta, astrologer, artist, poet, designer, author, and stylist, this sign thrives when interiors feel bold and expressive. ‘They love a space that reflects who they are.’

Eclectic by nature, Aries is game for pattern mixing and unapologetic color. Loud prints, saturated hues, and statement-making moments come naturally, making trends like pattern drenching or color drenching a perfect match for 2026. ‘They may make a splash with bold choices in color – whether that be a couch, a wall, or artwork. They aren’t afraid to go out there.’

But there are boundaries. As furniture trends skew larger this year, Aries may decide to bow out. ‘They may be turned off by anything that is too clunky or not polished,’ Anthony explains. The same goes for overly soft silhouettes. ‘They also may have a harder time with anything too curved or feminine in style, too,’ he adds. ‘Sharp, crisp, angular lines are more their vibe.’

Lighting, however, is sacred territory. ‘Being a fire sign, lighting is of the utmost importance,’ Anthony notes, which puts Aries squarely in line with 2026’s more experimental fixture trends, favoring mixed materials, sculptural forms, and anything that feels a little unexpected. As always, ‘Aries is all about going its own way,’ he muses.

Taurus: April 20 – May 20

Gia Coppola's bedroom

If anyone perfects the art of the bedroom escape, it’s Taurus. They will be the first to embrace of-the-moment bedding moves – like elongated lumbar pillows – before they hit mass adoption.

‘Taurus is a homebody, so their home is everything!’ notes astrologer Anthony Perrotta. ‘They need a space that radiates comfort and ease,’ which often means blurring the line between indoors and out. Think flowers on repeat, thriving houseplants (we’d bet they’re 1-800-Flowers’ best customers), or a more design-literate embrace of biophilic principles that pull from nature in material, shape, and silhouette.

There’s a long-standing stereotype that Taurus is materialistic. In reality, they’re just deeply devoted to their things. They ‘spend a lot of time curating their space,’ which typically is a haven of warmth and anything pillow-forward. ‘Taurus loves a nice comfortable bed,’ Anthony adds, making bedding trends their north star for 2026.

Of course, a love of beautiful things requires equally beautiful storage. Linen closets swell with patterned fitted sheets and extra ‘unipillows’ while wardrobes expand to accommodate everything from viral Lola Blanket throws to the occasional $265 Loewe candle.

Even in the furniture department, comfort is non-negotiable. ‘They may also love furniture that allows them to lounge and can be both comfortable and chic’ – a ‘boneless’ couch, for instance. ‘Cloud couches are a good example of this or couches with down feathers to add to the plushness,’ Anthony adds. ‘Curved furniture instead of anything too streamlined,' will be their pick for 2026.

Gemini: May 21 – June 20

Gia Coppola's office

A Gemini doesn’t pick sides. In 2026, vintage chandeliers and clean-lined contemporary furniture can (and will) coexist.

Some call them two-faced. At Homes & Gardens, we prefer multi-faceted. Represented by the twins, this air sign thrives on flexibility, contrast, and a touch of chaos, all of which show up clearly in their design instincts.

‘Gemini needs a place that is as flexible and unique as they are,’ explains Anthony Perrotta. ‘They are often holding so many things at once that their home has to keep up with their busy lifestyles.’ Multi-purpose furniture, therefore, is almost certainly in order. Storage ottomans, sleeper sofas, and especially modular seating feel tailor-made for Gemini energy, which Anthony notes ‘would be great for them,' in 2026.

‘They tend toward angular lines and eclectic styles,’ Anthony adds. ‘You could easily see them mixing and matching pieces from everywhere.’ Geminis are collectors, editors, and curators all at once, rarely loyal to a single look. They’re also thinkers and communicators at heart. ‘Having a design taste that allows them the space for their writing, reading, and reflection is good too,’ Anthony says, whether that’s a proper desk setup or a clever home office moment tucked into another room. (The closet-office hybrid by designer Claire Sá? Practically written in their chart.)

Color is where Gemini’s duality really shines. ‘Gemini is associated with yellows, blues, and lighter color, but they can balance that with darker tones too,’ Anthony continues. ‘They can bring together two unlikely palettes or colors and make them work.’ Unsurprisingly, he adds that they’re also naturals at playing with scale and proportion – because for Gemini, nuance is the name of the game.

Cancer: June 21 – July 22

Cancers are doubling down on vintage this year, but reworking it with a lighter hand and a few of their favorite pastels.

If any sign was destined to care deeply about home – not just this year, but always – it’s Cancer. ‘For you, the home is where you want to cocoon and never leave,’ notes Former NBC journalist and founder and astrologer at The Diamond Is You, Leah Gillis. ‘You are all about your home being your sanctuary, cozy, inviting, and a place you really don’t ever want to leave – you do it if you must,’ she laughs.

According to Anthony Perrotta, this water sign's sense of style will grow increasingly nostalgic throughout 2026. Cancers are deeply sentimental and tend to gravitate toward older design styles, which makes antique-inspired lifestyle brands especially appealing. Think designs by tastemakers like Shea McGee or Joanna Gaines, who cover every corner of domestic life with timeworn flair, from cutting boards to pillow covers.

Or better yet, Cancer might just get the real deal. Vintage isn’t a passing interior trend for this sign, it’s a lifelong commitment. ‘Cancer knows how to make vintage work!’ Anthony exclaims. ‘They can mix older styles together to make it uniquely their own. Danish or mid-century could be nice touches for them, as could a Victorian piece from a bygone era. Maybe even an Art Nouveau or Art Deco piece to spice things up!’

Leo: July 23 – August 22

Where other signs hesitate over an investment piece, Leo doesn’t blink. A high-gloss oxblood dining table? Of course – this expense will be amortized by compliments.

Leos don’t just have great hair; their interiors are equally camera-ready. According to Neila Deen, founder of East Coast design studio Urban Casa, Leo approaches design with drama and a sense of self-expression. ‘Their spaces are open, bold, and visually striking, often centered around statement pieces that command attention,’ she says.

‘Leo needs a home that feels larger than life,’ adds Anthony Perrotta. ‘They enjoy bright light, open layouts, tall ceilings, and a mix of modern and ornate.’ This is definitely not a sign that wants to tuck furniture flush against the wall. Centralized living spaces designed for entertaining make the most sense here – which is exactly why retro conversation pit revivals and oversized seating moments feel so right for 2026. Everyone’s visible, seated, and, importantly, watching.

If there were ever a sign justified in splurging on a hero piece, it’s Leo. A fire-engine-red, full-lacquer dining table? Why not. ‘There will usually be one piece in each room that’s the star of the show,’ Anthony notes. Jewel tones, rich materials (think velvet, silk, crystal, or etched glass), and high-gloss finishes are a yes. ‘They have no problem spending the resources to make their home feel beautiful and inviting,’ he adds.

Virgo: August 23 – September 22

Virgos are trading early-2020s bouclé minimalism for something equally considered but a little warmer. Inspired by the work of Molly Kidd, they’re opting for light, tactile alternatives like shearling.

‘For Virgo, order is everything,’ notes Natalia de Arteaga, interior designer at Planner 5D. With a mind that’s constantly sorting, solving, and scanning for what’s next, their home needs to do the opposite.

That starts with calming the noise. We’d wager Virgos were completely tickled by this year’s Cloud Dancer announcement. ‘Neutral, warm tones that promote calm and organization are essential,’ Natalia says, alongside ‘materials and soft textures that are easy to maintain,’ which help keep spaces feeling controlled and intentional. Nordic and minimalist styles naturally appeal here, aligning with the less-is-more philosophy that’s etched into Virgo’s DNA. (Marie Kondo may technically be a Libra, but spiritually, she belongs here.)

They are, essentially, the 'clean girl' of the zodiac. ‘They are often seen as abhorring clutter and mess, thus an airy vibe is more for them,’ adds astrologer Anthony Perrotta. ‘Built-in organization is also a big plus for them! Light wood accents, soft textures, white marble.’ Unlike Taurus, who might stockpile throw pillows on sheer aesthetic principle, Virgo needs every object to have a reason.

Libra: September 23 – October 22

In 2026, Libras will make classical codes feel infinitely cooler, elevating their Parisian-leaning interiors with trend-aware touches.  A candle sconce, for instance, would be the obvious next move in this living room.

Libra, represented by the scales, is ‘all about balance, harmony, and refined beauty,’ notes Urban Casa’s Neila Deen. In 2026, that sensibility translates to light-filled spaces, soft neutrals, and rich textures. ‘Because Libra is the sign of beauty and aesthetics, the ideal home is one that radiates charm,’ adds Anthony Perrotta. ‘They care about harmony and like a space that allows that to come forward. Symmetry, proportion, and scale give Libra just what they need.’

Stylistically, Libras flirt with classicism. ‘They enjoy the symmetry of Neoclassical architecture, with a European or Parisian flair,’ Anthony continues, and they’re especially adept at mixing, marrying mid-century with Scandi, or clean geometry with curves.

Hard as 2026 trends might try to push them, you won’t catch Libras buying anything too clunky, Brutalist, or aggressively oversized. Retailers like Anthropologie, which riff on multiple design movements through an edited lens, are more their speed.

Classic gestures like marble accents, curved loveseats, and richly textured rugs speak their language, but all of this is ultimately secondary to feeling. For Libra, the holistic experience matters most. If anything, scent is the final, decisive layer. If a room looks perfect but smells wrong, they’ll clock it immediately – which is why many will happily trawl Net-a-Porter for their favorite Trudon candles and room sprays.

Scorpio: October 23 – November 21

Scorpio doesn’t always need to default to darkness to signal edge. This year, they may deploy high-shine finishes like chrome in unexpected places to communicate intensity without going full noir.

Scorpios have a reputation for being deep, intellectual, and a little brooding – and yes, it shows up at home. Their interiors are often dark and moody, which makes any edgier 2026 trend – chrome accents, high-contrast palettes, low-slung silhouettes – an easy yes. Frilliness, meanwhile, is a lifelong no. Coquette, cottagecore, anything twee? Not this sign. Think glamorous and smoky, like a crowded Parisian bar circa 1972.

‘A little drama can go a long way. Scorpio styling can be super high in contrast but grounded in darker colors,’ notes Anthony Perrotta. ‘You may embody the witchy vibe but also may like the classic designer look' – as long as there’s sharpness involved. Angular forms, shadowy furniture, tactile layering, and low, ambient lighting all sit squarely within the Scorpio wheelhouse. Texture-maxing might very well be their go-to strategy this year: juxtaposing leather against velvet, lacquer against stone.

That said, Scorpio isn’t always opposed to softness. Sheerness, especially when used to carve out privacy within shared spaces, holds major appeal, making this year’s theatrical bed canopy trend an ideal match for this intimacy-loving water sign.

And as ‘the sign of inherited goods and shared wealth,’ Scorpios know their way around an heirloom. Don’t be surprised if they beat you at a vintage auction, emerging victorious with a pair of low-light Noguchi-style paper lamps. ‘Being a Fixed sign, they are amazing at continuity and bringing the past into the present,’ Anthony adds.

Sagittarius: November 22 – December 21

A Sagittarius will always march to the beat of their own drum – often across multiple time zones. In 2026, that wanderlust shows up as whimsical, globally informed touches wherever they feel right, powder rooms included.

Home is a moving target for Sagittarius this year. ‘If you’re a Sagittarius, actually the issue of home could feel challenging,’ warns astrologer Leah Gillis. ‘With Saturn in Pisces activating your house of home, you’re being asked to redefine what home means to you, and where.’ It’s a question you’ve been circling for a while now. ‘This has been playing out for the past three years,’ she adds, ‘and until February, it reaches a kind of final exam moment.’

This is totally fine, as Sagittarius isn’t interested in neat answers. This is the sign most likely to treat home as a landing pad rather than a destination. ‘Your usual style is likely full of travel posters, art, and objects picked up along the way,’ Leah notes. It’s layered, and it’s deeply personal.

So in 2026, the advice is actually to ignore trends altogether. (You were never going to follow them anyway.) Just make sure whatever you bring home has meaning. The rest will sort itself out.

Still, it is worth noting that the Sag-sect loves a statement, whether that’s a bold accent wall, an oversized piece of art, or a move that feels just a touch audacious. If Sagittarius were to adopt a trend this year, it would be grown-up whimsy. ‘Being whimsical in the right way can be exactly what their home needs,’ notes Anthony Perrotta.

Capricorn: December 22 – January 19

A brown dining room with a curved wooden table with a fluted base, and cozy upholstered banquette, and a large framed painting on the wall

‘They don’t make ’em like they used to’ is very much the Capricorn mantra. In 2026, whatever they buy will be substantial, impeccably made, and firmly in rotation for decades.

For Capricorns, ‘efficiency, organization, and function are at the forefront,’ notes Erin Remington, a Los Angeles–based interior designer and art consultant. ‘If it doesn’t serve a purpose in their home, it’s just taking up space.’

Natalia de Arteaga of Planner 5D agrees, pointing to Capricorn’s deep appreciation for longevity over novelty. Neutral palettes paired with materials that age well and mean business, such as leather, stone, and dark-toned solid wood, are their favorites. Like their fellow earth sign Virgo, Capricorn is highly organized, but that structured impulse isn’t necessarily precious.

Or cold, for that matter. ‘They really care about good lines and honest materials,’ adds Anthony Perrotta. ‘There’s something inherently sophisticated about their style, and that needs to be reflected in their home.’

If it read as elegant 100 years ago and still does today, Capricorn is sold. Unsurprisingly, new releases from antiquely informed brands like Magnolia or McGee & Co. – who consistently reinterpret traditional forms with discipline and polish – are likely already in their cart this year.

Aquarius: January 20 – February 18

If it’s unusual, slightly futuristic, or never-before-seen, assume an Aquarius already has it in their cart. Space Age–adjacent sofas with sinuous lines will probably catch their eye purely because no one else has one.

Aquarius is, admittedly, the hardest sign to pin down. Defined by difference, no two Aquarians decorate alike, and they’d prefer it stay that way. ‘They are visionaries, idealists, and revolutionaries that help propel us forward in time and space,’ notes Anthony Perrotta. ‘More than any other sign, Aquarius integrates the mind, body, and soul.’ As such, ‘Aquarius needs a home as unique as they are,’ he adds. ‘Because of their originality, they may be drawn to features that are sort of “one of a kind”.’

That often manifests as innovation. Experimental materials, emerging tech, and design that feels slightly ahead of its moment are catnip here. ‘They are cutting edge,’ Anthony explains. ‘Modern design can definitely suit their needs easily, as they can turn the home into their vision of ingenuity.’ Think unexpected finishes – lacquer or chrome for 2026 – clever engineering, or conceptual furniture, à la anything you’d spot sitting in a Kips Bay Decorator Show House.

‘If I were to take Aquarius away from the ultra-modern or futuristic elements, I would put them in a home that feels quirky and vintage,’ Anthony adds. ‘Almost like a movie set to the 70s – with unique color palettes and “modern for the times” accents.’ Space Age revival, golden-age-of-flight nostalgia (think TWA Hotel), and Jetsons-adjacent details all fit the bill this year. ‘They love the innovative design style of the “future of homes” from the 50s–70s,’ he continues. ‘Built-in blenders and secret compartments. There is a kitschy and playful vibe that they can’t deny.’

Pisces: February 19 – March 20

Trove by Studio Duggan Tiger Mirror

Blues, woven textures, and silhouettes that echo the sea will guide Pisces interiors in 2026, capturing their romantic sense of drift.

(Image credit: TROVE by Studio Duggan)

Pisces decorates by feeling first, logic later. ‘Pisces seeks spaces that evoke emotion and personal experiences,’ notes Planner 5D's Natalia de Arteaga. Desaturated palettes and natural materials like wood, stone, and jute help create the kind of soft-focus environment they instinctively gravitate toward.

Stylistically, they’re most at home somewhere between Mediterranean ease and ‘Eastcoastal,’ prioritizing fluid lines and sun-washed textures. That shell trend from two springs ago? Pisces won't be moving on in 2026. Emotional attachment matters here, as does touch. ‘It is all about what feels good, not just emotionally, but physically,’ adds Los Angeles–based interior designer Erin Remington.

Hard edges are the enemy. ‘A home with too much rigidity, segmentation, or darkness would feel harsh for Pisces,’ says astrologer Anthony Perrotta. Craftsman, Brutalism, anything overly architectural are a hard pass. Instead, they favor Japandi, Scandi, and wabi-sabi aesthetics that embrace softness, irregularity, nature – and, even more importantly, water.

Glass, mirrors, and other reflective surfaces will appear often in their homes as subtle nods to Pisces’ aquatic instincts, typically in seafoam, indigo, misty greens, or washed blues. And if they're investing in any bed sheets this year? Probably organic, probably California-inspired, and probably from Coyuchi.
