Hate the big light? Here are 9 of my favorite table lamps for every design style
Table lamps are such an easy and affordable way to bring a soft light into your home
I love a good pendant light and chandelier as much as the next person, but when you want to bring a lot of light into your home without having to deal with issues like installation, a gorgeous table lamp is your best bet. Plus, they offer a much softer glow that's often better suited to cozier spaces like a living room or bedroom. Although, that being said I have seen this lighting idea sneaking into kitchens too.
‘Table lamps are trending because people realize they don’t need to deal with electricians and other stressful circumstances, but table lamps offer similar conveniences at much lower price points,’ says Sophia Shanley, an interior designer at Denver-based interior design firm Duet Design Group.
‘People are beginning to realize the joy of the decorative lampshade, which is a table lamp specialty: Different shades produce different ambiances, and for too long we have focused on simple drum shades. In fact, table lamps now come in every option, from natural, modern farmhouse styles to contemporary, bright metal bits, and natural materials are trending, too. This means you can really find the perfect table lamp for your space.’
No matter whether you like a classic table lamp, want to play with funky shapes, or are more interested in sustainable, rustic materials that will stand the test of time, there’s a table lamp out there for you. You can choose to stay minimalist or try out some eclectic interior design trends, but whichever way you want to swing, I can help: I looked through all of my favorite home retailer’s websites to find table lamps that would work for all design aesthetics.
This vintage-inspired lamp has a colored milky shade in order to play with light, and the metal accents bring about a luxe feel.
Two marble cylinders are layered on top of each other, creating a structural column that’s incredibly unique. I love the subtle swirled veining, which allows for a simple statement.
This ‘70s-inspired lamp plays with squiggly lines and a bright orange hue to bring about a playful touch that’ll add some fun to your work desk.
Designed by Melbourne-based interior design company Vuue, this crystal lamp is set in a solid brass frame for added shine.
Small space lovers will appreciate the fact that this table lamp is only eight inches in diameter, but that doesn’t mean it sacrifices on style.
This domed lamp uses colored glass in order to diffuse light and emit a warm glow to any space. It’s modern and minimalist but the warm light with add a coziness to any room.
Traditionalists will love the classic form on this table lamp, with a simple, sleek finish and curved rim. Hand-wrapped rattan around the sleek brass frame adds an element of cool contrast.
Inspired by Italian mid-century modern design, this lamp has a three-prong shade that utilizes a steel frame exterior, skinny torch holders for the bulbs, and a retro back plate, all of which combine together to create a fashion-forward look.
Was $79.99, now $65.99 at Wayfair
This simple globe lamp provides a minimalist silhouette that stands on a curved metal base for a touch of industrial attitude. You can control the light completely with the included dimmer.
Table lamps provide an easy glow to any space, and can be used to bring in extra light while working, reading, and entertaining. There are numerous styles and colors available, and you can even find table lamps suited for decorating small spaces, making them easy, stress-free additions to your home.
