We rely on our vacuums to clean our homes so, naturally, you want to get a reliable one. I'm a strong believer that a good vacuum cleaner is something to invest in, but that doesn't change how expensive these essential appliances can be.

That's why I always recommend waiting until the right vacuum deal comes along, but luckily, they pop up quite often. We're between sale events right now – Prime Day ended on October 8, and Black Friday is approaching on November 28 – but there are still countless vacuum deals to be snapped up in the meantime.

Best-on-test

Dyson V15 Detect | was $849.99, now $599.99 at Best Buy (save $250)

The Dyson V15 Detect has spent an admirable amount of time topping many of our vacuum cleaner buying guides, including our best vacuums for pet hair. In virtually all aspects – suction power, pet hair pickup, ease of use, versatility across all floor types – it beats all others.

One of its best features is a green laser that can reveal invisible dust that you can't normally see. It also has advanced dust detection, automatically adjusting suction power when needed, and is able to count each particle that it picks up.

In our Shark POWERDETECT Upright review, we revealed why it's so perfect for big, messy homes. Its suction is more relentless than any vacuum we've tested, picking up every mess in one forward pass. It's the only best vacuum we recommend that's on par with the Dyson V15 Detect (but for different reasons).

One of the very best cordless vacuums we've ever tested, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim is the smaller counterpart to Dyson's flagship vacuum, the V15 Detect.

It has market-leading suction power, dust detection, and a green laser that illuminates dust that the naked eye can't see. It's also incredibly lightweight and works wonders on all floor types and debris.

Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog | was $999, now $789.97 at Amazon (save $209.21)

I tested this canister vacuum in a local pet shelter and it proved to be one of the best vacuums for pet hair we've ever used.

The best Miele vacuums are some of the highest-quality models in the market, and if you treat it right the Blizzard CX1 could last for longer than 10 years. Its only real drawback is the price, but with this discount I couldn't recommend it more.

A handheld vacuum should be part of your essential cleaning toolkit, especially if you have pets. Having one nearby means you can quickly clean up crumbs and hair clumps as soon as you spot them, keeping your home spotless between the deeper cleans. This is the best handheld vacuum we've tested, with powerful suction that can yank fur out of stubborn fabrics.

Where to Shop for Vacuum Cleaner Deals

Here is my up-to-date list of all the brand and retailer sales available online, to shop around and save $100s on a brand new vacuum cleaner.

It's worth knowing that there are budget models out there between $100 to $200, but they rarely do a good job of cleaning our floors. Instead, I'd advise forking out $350+ (retail price) for a great vacuum that will deliver cleaning worth the spend.

We also have dedicated guides to the best Dyson deals and the best Shark vacuum deals.

My Top Vacuum Deal Tips and Tricks

I've been covering appliance deals and sales events since 2021. After writing about every Black Friday, Prime Day and other major sale periods for the last four years, I've learned how to spot a genuinely good deal and a few things to do before heading into the online sales.

Do your research before buying. There are tons of vacuum cleaners out there, spanning cordless, upright, canister, wet/dry and even robot models. Brush up on how to choose the right vacuum cleaner for your home for advice from our thorough testing. The right vacuum cleaner depends on your home's needs; they're not all suited to everyone.

Doing your research beforehand equips you for every big sale that comes around. With retailers and manufacturers pushing their 'best' vacuum deals, it can be easy to become distracted and choose a model you wouldn't have normally gone for.

Online stores will occasionally bump up the prices before a sale event so that their discounts look much bigger. So when it comes to finding deals, you can use two sites to check whether you've found it at its cheapest.

CamelCamelCamel: This website works in a similar way, but exclusively for Amazon listings. You can enter a product name or URL, and it'll show you its entire price history. This is particularly useful as you can see when a vacuum is at its lowest price ever (then, you've found it at the right time).

Honey: This is a price comparison tool. If you install it as an extension on your browser, it'll pop up when you're on a product page and display info from across the web. It'll tell you if you've found it at its cheapest or if another retailer offers it at a better price. You can also view price history up to the past 120 days – this will help to show you whether you've found a genuinely good price, or if a retailer has bumped it up ahead of the sale so that the discount seems bigger.

Use Camel and Honey alongside each other to check price history, compare other sites, and learn more about the best times to buy a particular vacuum.

Pro tip: You can find refurbished vacuums online for a lower price. It might not sound appealing for such an important investment, but refurbished vacuums still have to meet rigorous testing standards to be sold and labeled as such. Dyson Renewed is a great example – it's their outlet store for recycled and refurbished goods. You can also find dedicated pages for refurbished vacs at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy.

My Favorite Vacuums to Look For in the Sales

We've tested 82 of the world's best cordless vacuums, best upright vacuums and best robot vacuums and put them through their paces in our test center, a local pet shelter, and in our own homes. If you're unsure where to look, these are three of my favorites worth snapping up at a good deal.

When is a Good Time to Find a Vacuum Deal

In my time covering deals and sale events, I've learned that the best time to buy a vacuum cleaner is between September to January. This is often when brands are releasing new products, and the manufacturers and retailers will clear old stock to make space (by reducing the price). That being said, this isn't always the case, and I've learned that you can find vacuum bargains all year round if you know when to look.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals

Black Friday (on November 28 this year) and Cyber Monday (December 1) is the biggest sale event of the year. Historically this is where I've seen the most choice when it comes to vacuum deals, with retailers and the vacuum brands themselves all launching their own sales and competing for the lowest price. If you're looking to browse, this is the best time to do so.

Black Friday is no longer a one day event, and you can expect to see deals pop up two weeks or so before the big day.

After Christmas and New Year's Day vacuum Deals

For some online stores and manufacturers, this period is the last chance to clear old vacuum stock, so you'll likely find some decent price reductions. There may not be the best choice on offer, but if you're looking for something cheap, you're in luck. It's also the time of year when people generally spend less, driving the prices down further.

Memorial Day Vacuum Deals

Every Memorial Day, there are floods of sales from the major retailers and all of our favorite vacuum brands. So if you're in the market for a discounted vacuum, it's worth waiting until the sales are live.

Labor Day Vacuum Deals

Among all the Labor Day sales, I've always been surprised by how many impressive vacuum deals I've found, often rivaling those I see during Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Prime Day. Lots of stores get involved with the Labor Day sales, as well as the brands themselves (it's on the brands' own websites where I tend to find the best deals).

Prime Day vVacuum Deals

Amazon runs two Prime Days each year, one in July and one in October. Amazon's second Prime Day of 2025 officially ended on October 8, and as we see every year, there were plenty of vacuum deals, saving up to $300. Amazon's first Prime Day of 2025 wrapped up on July 11.

As it's only a single retailer, the range of products that are actually discounted can sometimes be limited, but I often see the well-known bestsellers on offer (like those from Shark and Dyson).

Recently, retailers such as Walmart, Target and Best Buy have been launching competing sales while Prime Day is live, often lasting for days or even weeks longer. If you look through all the sites, you're sure to find a great discount on a good vacuum.

FAQs

How Long Does Prime Day Last?

Prime Day starts at 00:01 on the opening date and ends at 23:59 on the last day, Pacific time. If you're on the East Coast, it's 3 am to 2:59 am. In the UK, Prime Day runs from midnight to midnight, GMT.

Prime Day began as a one-day event, but the recent Amazon Prime Big Deal Days lasted for 48 hours on October 7-8, and the Prime Day back in July 2025 ran for an entire four days, giving members a whopping 96 hours to shop for a shiny new vacuum cleaner.

Is Everything on Sale During Prime Day?

Amazon doesn't run discounts on every available product, but there are always plenty of deals available across home, tech, outdoor living, and more.

Vacuums are heavily discounted during every Prime Day, especially the high-ticket items like the best robot vacuums. And while you're at it, it's also a great chance to stock up on other smart home must-haves or essential cleaning supplies.

Why are Dyson Vacuums so Expensive?

Dysons are expensive because they offer the best, market-leading and patented engineering. From our 75 vacuum tests, Dyson has come out on top in almost every way, and their vacuums have unique features that can't be found elsewhere.

I'd personally never recommend buying a Dyson at full price, though. They're on offer so frequently throughout the year that it's best to wait until some Dyson deals are in full swing.

If they're still too expensive, then we have a guide dedicated to the best Dyson alternatives, for similar cleaning power at a fraction of the cost.

Are Cordless Vacuums Worth Buying?

Yes, but it depends on your home. If you live in a busy, heavily carpeted home with pets, you'd probably benefit from the power of one of the best upright vacuums.

But if your home has a lot of hard floors, and you like to clean regularly, you can't beat the convenience of a cordless stick. They're lighter, more comfortable to use, and some are even rivaling the power of an upright vacuum (granted, these are the expensive ones, like the Dyson Gen5detect).
