Best grill deals – the biggest discounts on the best tested grills

There's nothing like a grill for outdoor entertaining. It's an essential part of any cookout, especially around the summer.

I've tested the best grills for years, so I know exactly what makes for a good grill.

I worked my way through hundreds of grill deals to find offers on tested grills. These models all excel at outdoor cooking, but this isn't an advert. I've added a few caveats that you need to know before you buy one.

You don't need anything fancy to grill. This is my favorite charcoal grill. It's simple and cheap but it's easy to ignite, reaches incredibly hot temperatures, and maintains them for hours.

This is a great smoker for beginners. The 650sq in. capacity is perfect for most families and it won't take up too much space. It's easy to use and even connects over WiFi to give you notifications about temperature and cooking time.

Weber Genesis SPX-435 | Was $1829, now $1579 at AJ Madison
We loved putting this grill through its paces. Our tests found that it has nearly a thousand square inches of cooking surface, so you can grill 40 burgers at once. However, while this deal is a good saving on a very expensive grill, this is the version without a digital thermometer or the app.

I know first hand that this is a total pig to assemble, but once that's out of the way this is an excellent grill, with robust, well-made parts and a good side burner.

This is the lowest price I've ever seen for the Ninja Woodfire. This tabletop grill hugely surprised us when we put it to the test. It can cook a surprisingly large amount of food and smokes tenderloin better than some smokers more than ten times the price.

When to buy a grill

Grills are on sale at various points throughout the year. Your next opportunity to buy a grill is on President's Day, with deals dropping in the runup throughout the rest of November.

President's Day

There aren't deals for every grill on President's Day, but you occasionally see huge drops. President's Day falls in mid-February long before grilling weather. However, that can mean that retailers are desperate to shift their old grill stock before they launch new models in the spring, so every so often you find huge discounts.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day can be a good time to buy a grill, as some retailers and manufacturers try to entice shoppers with low-cost grills ahead of the summer.

However, not all the prices you see on Memorial Day are legitimate discounts because it's the start of the grilling season and retailers want to maximize their profits. This means that the 'sale' price is really just the retail price, with a higher, fake retail price to entice you to buy. So, while you can get a good deal on Memorial Day, it isn't necessarily the best time to buy.

July 4th

July 4th is often the best time to buy a grill. Demand for grills peaks in the weeks leading up to the holiday as people plan parties. Demand drops on the day itself and right after, leaving retailers with lots of bulky grills that are expensive to store.

Because they want to get rid of the stock after demand drops, many retailers offer huge discounts on their grills after the 4th of July. These are usually far below the usual market price, so it's the best time to buy a grill.

Amazon Prime Day

Sometimes you can find grills on sale for Amazon Prime Day. There are usually two Prime Day events a year. In 2024, the two sales fell on the 16th-17th of July and the 8th-9th of October. However, you should be careful when shopping for grills on Amazon. While there were excellent discounts on Weber grills, many of the grills listed for sale were cheap knockoffs.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Black Friday is the Friday straight after Thanksgiving. In this now-iconic sales event, retailers want to get rid of old stock to make room for Christmas presents and entice people to start shopping for the holidays. Black Friday has since turned into a month of discounts, with the following Monday nicknamed 'Cyber Monday' due to its particular focus on tech discounts.

This year, Black Friday will fall on November 29th, with Cyber Monday following on December 2nd.

Historically, Black Friday is a smart time to buy a grill. You'll see a wider range of discounts over Memorial Day and July 4th, but Black Friday often sees the lowest prices, as retailers attempt to sell off old grill stock before new models launch in spring.
