Want to know the best selling air fryers, vacuums and juicers of 2023? At Homes & Gardens, we keep a close eye on the products that you actually go on to buy from our hundreds of guides, recommendations and reviews.
Just because a product is the best-selling, it doesn't necessarily make it right for you - but we were fascinated by the choices in some of our most popular areas of specialism. Other people's choices do serve as a good starting point to help you make your own choices - and so what better way to start than by reading our annual round up.
Whether it's the best air fryer, the best juicer, or even just some bed sheets, this is what our readers have been buying.
Best non-toxic air fryer
Best non-toxic air fryer
Our most popular product this year, readers couldn't get enough of this non-toxic air fryer. The ceramic basket is PFE-free, which is great if you're at all worried about air fryer toxicity. It's incredibly fast and fits a good capacity into a small air fryer, but we found it isn't precise when cooking at lower temperatures.

Best value vacuum
Best value vacuum for pet hair
You might be surprised to read that our readers preferred Shark to Dyson this year, and the Shark Stratos comes in at #2. That's because this vacuum is relentless on pet hair. Unlike other upright vacuums, it's easy to use on stairs, and it even has odor-neutralising tech that eliminates pet odors.
Our Shark Stratos upright vacuum review has more details.
Best juicer
Best juicer
I'm surprised to see this in the top ten because it's pretty expensive, but lots of our readers thought the best juicer on the market was worth it. It not only makes perfect juice, but also smoothies and sorbets, and it's even great at juicing nuts.
You can find more details in our Kuvings EVO820 review.
Best overall
The best coffee maker
This coffee maker is simple but sensational. One of the few coffee makers to meet the Specialty Coffee Association's Golden Cup Standard) it makes perfect coffee and keeps it warm for hours at the touch of a button.
There's more detail in our full OXO Brew 8-Cup Coffee Maker review.
Best bullet
Best bullet blender
This blender performs like blenders that cost five times as much. It doesn't have the fancy settings and soup-making abilities of top-line models but it blasts through fruits, vegetables, and ice. If you need something affordable, this is the blender for you.

Best upright
Best upright vacuum for pet hair
It's one of Dyson's older models, but we're still yet to see it beaten for sheer power. If you struggle with removing pet hair from carpets, this will completely them. The big problem with this vacuum is that if anything it's too powerful, and can suck up small area rugs.

Best toaster oven air fryer
Best toaster oven air fryer
This toaster oven has the best air fry function of any we've tested. It made perfect tater tots and turkey bacon, with simple controls. Ironically, it's not always amazing at making toast.
Our KitchenAid Digital Countertop Oven review has further details.
Best air fryer
Best air fryer overall
The best air fryer in the world, the Instant Vortex Plus makes perfect fries. Unlike most other air fryers you can easily monitor your food without opening the basket and losing heat, and it has an effective unique odor neutraliser that saves your kitchen from the smell of fried food.
Our Instant Vortex Plus review has more details.
Best cooling bed sheets
Best cooling sheets
These were the most popular sheets this year. Made from bamboo lyocell, they're a lifesaver if you tend to sleep hot. They're hypoallergenic and wash well too, as they're naturally crease-free.
There's more info in our guide to the best bed sheets.
How we test
Where possible, we test products in our test centre, where we can standardise our testing to give every product a fair chance of success. We test all small appliances on a wide range of ingredients and recipes to make sure that they're up to the task. We test all floorcare appliances on a wide range of different debris and floor types. Our testers have expert training in their given field or years of experience. For example, our in-house coffee expert is trained as a barista.
When we can't arrange a sample for the test kitchen, we send products out to a team of expert freelancers. In some cases this can tell us more than the test kitchen, because using this products in a real home can reveal that little annoyances that come from using a product in an everyday home rather than a pristine test kitchen.
Where possible, we test products for months, if not years, so that we can make sure that products have longevity and represent genuine value for money. This is especially true of products like mattress and bedsheets, which can be products to last a lifetime. With sleep products, it's crucial to test them throughout the year, so we can see if they sleep hot or cold as the seasons change.
Our review and testing guidelines provide more insight into our process.
FAQs
What's the most popular air fryer?
The most popular air fryer in the world is the Ninja Max XL. This is a little surprising, as it's not our pick for the best air fryer. However, it was trending throughout Black Friday thanks to its non-toxicity and speed.
What's the most popular vacuum cleaner?
Dyson make the best-known vacuums, but we've found that the Shark Strtos is one of the most popular vacuums in the world. It does a great job for a lot less than a top-line Dyson vacuum.
Best of all, a lot of the most popular products are on markdown in the after-Christmas sales. I've covered the best of the Amazon after-Christmas sales and Walmart after-Christmas sales and some of these top picks have big discounts.
